BOOSTER CLUBS

Booster Club School Year

California Education Code section 5121 requires that all organizations that conduct fund-raising to benefit clubs, schools, students or the district have prior approval from the school district’s governing board or the board assigned designee. To meet this statutory requirement, the school district has policy and regulations requiring all booster clubs to do the following:

1.  Complete an annual application to form a booster club

2.  Submit for approval annually a copy of the application and an updated plan of activities

3.  Submit a copy of the organizations adopted constitution and bylaws with the application

4.  Ensure that the renewal applications include the following:

a.  A copy of the Booster Club’s 501(c)(3) Documentation – or – EIN Documentation and 501(c)(3) Application

b.  An annual financial statement for the year just ended, which includes all expenditures and all income for all events and fund-raisers

c.  A budget for the upcoming year

d.  A budget plan for the related activities

5.  Enrollment in the District’s Booster Club Insurance program or Proof of insurance. Payment for District-provided Booster Club insurance requires a check from the Booster Club bank account. No personal checks will be accepted.

6.  An Application for Use of Facilities for meetings and/or fund raising on District sites

The school principal and/or designee is responsible for informing the school staff, parents, coaches and advisors of these requirements, and for ensuring that all required documents are submitted annually, for all booster clubs operating on campus
