Place of work:Crawley Centre and Community Clubs

Responsible to:Head of Wellbeing Services

Responsible for:Managing thedaily operation and ongoing development of theCrawley centre and Community Clubs for people in later life

Teams to manage:Centre team members, Community Club Coordinatorandvolunteers

Main purpose of job:

To manage the daily operation of the Centre and Community Clubs;

develop new activities and clubs; grow centre memberships and usage;

introduce new services and hirers to the centre.

Main Duties:

  1. To manage the daily operation of the centre.
  1. To develop memberships to achieve income targets.
  1. To develop an appropriateactivity programme for the centre; reviewed regularly tomonitor attendance, quality, feedback, income targetsand in line with trends.
  1. To develop community based clubs.
  1. To ensure the catering operation at the centre continues to provide a quality and consistent service compliant with Food Safety regulations and meeting targeted GP and income.
  1. To managecentreand club team members including:
  2. Recruitment, training and development
  3. Holiday, absence and sickness recording
  4. Performance and disciplinary issues.
  1. To ensure admin processes are adhered to including financial procedures.
  1. To develop partnership working with voluntary sector and older people organisations sharing ideas and resources to embed the centre in their communities.
  1. To manage the fundraising strategies for the centreand clubs organising events to achieve targeted income. Build relationships to generate income from local businesses, supporters and funding bodies with assistance from the Marketing and Development Officer.
  1. To develop hiring’s of the centre to increase income.
  1. To marketthe Crawley services in an effective and creative way, including attending meetings and forums, stands at events and giving talks.
  1. Toprovide statistical and monitoring information forthe Head of Wellbeing Services and funders.
  1. To take responsibility for Health and Safety compliance for boththe centre and clubs with support from AWS’s Health and Safety Officer.
  1. To oversee the recruitment, training andsupport process for volunteers.
  1. To take responsibility for all processes and policies of the centres in line with AWS management systems.
  1. To act as a First Aider, Key Holder and be on alarm call-out lists.
  1. To attend relevant and mandatory training as requested by AWS.
  1. To attendone to one, management, networking, partnership, community and council committee meetings as required.
  1. To undertake any other duties appropriate within the role asmay reasonablybe required by AWS.

Knowledge: / Experience of working with older people. / Understanding of issues that affect older people.
Experience: / Operational management of a busy front-facing customer business/organisation.
Ability to identify, create and improve income streams and business development.
