Application for Missouri S&T Study Abroad Scholarship

As a firm commitment to enhance the international competence of Missouri S&T students, the Office of International Affairs offers scholarship opportunities to students participating in a semester or year-long study abroad program. Scholarship awards will be applied to the student’s account. Any Missouri S&T student participating in a Missouri S&T affiliated program is eligible to apply. To applysubmit 1) this form, 2)a copy of your official S&T transcript, 3) a copy of your study abroad acceptance letter (if available) and 4) your answers to questions 1 – 3 on a separate sheet of paper.As a condition of this scholarship you are required to actively participate in two recruiting activities after you return to campus. Scholarship applications should be submitted to your study abroad advisor no later than the deadlines listed below. Scholarship applications not received by the deadline may not be considered for the scholarship award.

  1. Describe your academic achievements, including any academic honors you have received, as well as any community activities in which you are involved.
  1. Explain your financial need. Please include any financial aid you are currently receiving.
  1. Attach an essay explaining why you are interested in studying abroad, what interests you about the location you have selected, and what you are expecting from your experience studying abroad. Essay should be at least one-half page and no more than one (1) page.

Scholarship application deadlines:

Fall Semester - July 1

Winter Semester – November 15

Summer Semester – April 30

Award of a scholarship is contingent upon your agreement to the following:

  • You must agree to participate in at least two recruiting events following your semester or year abroad.
  • A letter of thanks must be submitted to the scholarship sponsor.
  • You must complete a Missouri S&T Study Abroad Program Evaluation upon returning from your time studying abroad.

In addition, Missouri S&T International Affairs encourages you to post pictures and your experiences on the Missouri S&T Study Abroad Facebook page.

Students participating in Missouri S&T’s Honor’s Academy may be eligible for a matching scholarship from the Honor’s Academy.

As Missouri S&T student we expect you to follow the code of conduct and the rules of your host institution, but also the laws of the country you are studying in. If some violation to the code of conduct or rules was to happen, the International Office would have the right to charge your account for the amount of the scholarship which was provided to you.
