2012-13Driver Education Contract

Instructor Responsibilities:

  • Keep accurate records of in-class exams and lessons.
  • Keep accurate records of driving lessons for each student with comments.
  • Provide a classroom grade and driving grade at the end of the session.
  • Make sure all students carry their permit.
  • Make sure all students complete 24 hours of in-class instruction and 24 hours of driving instruction (6 hours of driving and 18 hours of observation.)
  • Remind students that their driving habits while in driver education should reflect the fact that they are in driver education and that any incidents of reckless or careless driving could result in expulsion from the class.
  • Instructors are not allowed to take students home; all students must be returned to school.
  • Instructors may not ride with only one student in the car at a time for any reason.
  • If instructor carries a cell phone, leave the number with the main office in case they need to get in touch with a student.
  • Make sure they have a copy of students permit.
  • Hand in a folder at the end of the course with: (classroom attendance, driving attendance, final exam grade, project grade, classroom grade, final road test grade.)
  • Be certified through New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and New York State Education Department.

Sessions & Charges:

  • Summer session (July – August)

*Payment will be as follows for Summer session:

$5,500 for 20 students enrolled

  • Fall session (September – November)
  • Winter session (November – January)
  • Spring session (February – May)

*Payment will be as follows for Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions:

$3,800 for 12 students enrolled

$2,800 for 8 students enrolled

Instructor Responsibilities:$200.00 per course

  • Follow curriculum provided by New YorkState regarding, the risks involved with driving, DWI, road rage, as well as the emotional and financial responsibility of being a licensed driver
  • Prepare students for their road test
  • Be certified through New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and New York State Education Department.
  • Take attendance and sign roster at the top and after the last student name
  • Sign and issue certificates to students, once they’ve completed the course

Secretary Responsibilities:$100.00 per course

  • Answer phone and provide the date, time, location, and pre-registering process for the 5-hour course
  • Schedule qualifying applicants for course
  • Complete and maintain records, including copy of learner permit, for each student taking course
  • Collect course payment, issue receipts, and forward appropriate documentation / information to district office
  • Request booklets for course (with Administrator approval) from NYS DMV
  • Notify personnel, whom are affected by the course, of schedule and dates
  • Post proper signage and ensure all AV equipment is in 5-hour room day of course
  • Fill out certificates and roster, then forward to instructor for signature and issuing
  • Fax roster and certificates to NYS DMV
