Main Goals for 2011-2012

115% Membership

This goal has been set by our membership committee. In order to get 115% membership, we would need 92 members on the FFA roster. We can reach this goal by word of mouth advertising, running ads on the morning and afternoon announcements. We can also have give-a-ways to new members. We gave away a deer stand through a drawing of new members at the beginning of the year and it was well accepted. Many “new” members signed up and many “old” members referred these new members. This membership drive should cost about $100.00 for the chapter. It will bring in $9.00 per new member. ($20.00 dues-$11.00 State/National dues= $9.00)

100% SAE Participation

This year, we have a goal to have 100% participation on SAE projects. Last year we had great participation but we want 100%. We would like to have those students that excel in their record keeping to present their SAE project to the BOE at one of their meetings. In order to reach this goal we will need detailed record books that are easy to understand. We will also need training in order to know what is expected of us.

Have at Least 2 Members advance to State Level CDEs

In order to reach this goal we need to have the right people participating in the right event. We will have to practice and utilize the “experts” in our community that are willing to help us. We need to not only compete but be the best at what we compete in. We need to have funds available so that no student has to pay his or her own way to a CDE. This will improve participation and allow more students to participate that were able to.

Activities for 2010-2011

  • FFA-4H Market Hog Show
  • We will have 7 members competing in the Market Hog Show. All members should come out and support these members as they near completion of their SAE.

Committees and Teams

2011-2012

Membership Committee

This committee is made up of four FFA members: Jordan Prevatt (Committee Chair), Taylor Smith, Nate Cason, and Gannon Graham. Their goal is to come up with ways to increase our membership. They have set a goal this year of 115% membership. Below is the committee report to the general membership at the October monthly meeting.

October 4th, 2011

We the membership committee have set a goal for the Pierce County FFA Chapter of 115% membership. That equals 92 members. At the present, we have 89 members. We as a group have listed some ways we feel that we can increase our membership.

  • Advertisement: We can run advertisements on the morning announcements, and school TV system at lunch.
  • Word of Mouth: Tell your friends about FFA. Even if you don’t think that they would be interested.
  • Give-A-Ways: Have drawings for new members and for the members that refer them.

These recommendations were approved by the membership at the October Meeting.

CDE Committee

This committee is made up of four members: Jonathon Perone (committee chairman), Amber Lay, Kristin Jones, and Shelby Murray. Below is the committee report to the general membership at the October monthly meeting.

October 4th, 2011

We the CDE Committee feel that in order to be fully successful as an FFA Chapter we should not only compete in but excel in the events that we participate in. It is our goal to have at least 2 participants advance to the state level of competition in their area. We as a group have come up with several suggestions on how to make this possible.

  • Practice: Anyone competing in a CDE should have adequate time to practice for that event.
  • Have teams in place in advance.
  • Cost: It would be in the best interest of our chapter to have funds in place and available for these competitions so that members will not have to pay their own way.
  • Expert Help: We as a chapter should solicit the help and expertise of professionals in the field of competition.

These recommendations were approved by the membership at the October Meeting.

Blue Sign Committee

This committee is made up of 5 members: Daniel Herrin (committee chair), Luke Sinclair, Jessica Lovell, Avery Lewis, and Dalton Harris. The purpose of this committee is to look for ways to boost our standing in the Blue Sign Award given out by the Ag-Ed Department. This committee has set a goal to be in the top 7 in the final standings of the Blue Sign Award. Below are the suggestions submitted by the committee that will help us reach our goal.

October 4th, 2011
