WEIGHT TRAINING SYLLABUS 2016-2017

DRESSING - OUT POLICY

All students are required to dress out for class. Students are graded for dressing out.

SHIRTS- solid red, black, white or gray. (OHS spirit shirts are allowed in the specified colors.)

Shorts- red, black, gray (may have stripes)

Leggings/Tights/Yoga Pants- must have size appropriate shorts worn over.

Shoes- athletic shoes

ANY REFUSAL TO DRESS-OUT OR PARTICIPATE IN CLASS WILL RESULT IN THE FOLLOWING CONSEQUENCES:

-Students will be asked to work out in school cloths and a“0” for the daily dress grade.

!We do not have room for students to not participate in class, if this continues students will be moved out of weight training!

STUDENTS WILL HAVE UNTILAugust 22, 2016to be in uniform or to have purchased a uniformfrom his/her teacher.

GRADING POLICY

Dress- 20 pts/ day for a total of 100 pts/week

Participation (including execution of lifts, staying on task and following procedures)- 20 pts/day for a total of 100 pts/week

Test- Maxs: 3 per semester, 100 pts/max

Final Exam- 100 pts.

If you are absent (EXCUSED), you will be given the opportunity to make-up any work/activities you may have missed. It is the student’s responsibility to complete the make-up work within the time frame given.

Policies and Procedures

*students must stay in the weight room at ALL timeS during class.

*YOU HAVE 10 MINUTES TO CHANGE CLASS AND 6 MINUTES TO CHANGE. DON’T BE LATE! if you are late to roll call you do 25 burpees or unexused tardy.

*YOU MAY BRING A WATER BOTTLE TO DRINK OUT OF. WE DO NOT HAVE WATER FIXTURES IN WEIGHT ROOM. i highly recommend a snack before weight training, but the weight room is not a cafeteria. i do not want food in the weight room!

*With the new cell phone policy and teacher discretion, there will be NO cell phones out in weight room. If a phone is out, the phone will be taken up till end of class.

*NO TOBACCO USE IN WEIGHT ROOM

*STAY ON TASK AND STAY IN GROUPS

*USE PROPER LIFTING TECHNIQUE AND HAVE SPOTTERS AT

ALL TIMES

*MAX YOURSELF EVERDAY

Three things we ask everyday in weight room, do these things and we have no problems:

  1. Lift Heavy Weight
  2. Lift Fast
  3. Work Hard

VALUABLES- Items such as WALLETS, I.D., CASH, and JEWLERY can be given to your teacher for safe keeping.

** Report ALL accidents/issues to your teacher** If you have any problems in class, please make sure your teacher is aware of the situation.
