Project Title / Talent Management in Scottish SMEs
Research Project Summary / In recent years there has been increasing research into how talent is managed, but much of this has been in large corporations, in multinational firms or in professional service organizations like management consultancy (Preece et al 2013, 2011; Iles et al 2010a, b) There has been little research into talent management in other sectors such as SMEs, the public sector or the third/ community sector (Iles 2014)
Yet whether labelled as such or not all organizations will have a talent management strategy in terms of how they recruit, select, develop and reward ‘talent’ whether they are labelled as such or as fast-track, high-potentials or in some other way. The purpose of this research is to explore the talent management policies and strategies adopted by SMEs in Scotland, including how talent and talent management are defined, what is driving this interest, how talent management is seen differently from HRM in general, and how talent is managed and developed, as well as how talent management is evaluated.
