Description
In this course, students will learn general practices related to state and federal laws and subjects as they pertain to pharmacy. This course will also cover content related to the role of the pharmacy technician in practice standards and ethical principles. This course is intended to satisfy goals 7,11,16,17,18,19,21,27 and 29 of the model curriculum for pharmacy technician training, developed by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists. Prerequisites: None

b.Differentiate between bloodborne, airborne, and nosocomial transmission of diseases and infections.
c.Demonstrate proper handwashing technique.
d.Choose proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when presented with various scenarios.
e.Explain the three main areas of an incident report and the importance of completing incident reports.
f.Illustrate three situations a pharmacy should have a documented Emergency Action Plan (EAP) for and what an appropriate plan would be for each of the three situations.
g.Describe classifications, storage, handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
