In 2011, the Peter and Alice von Loesecke scholarship foundation will award one
$20,000 (USD) scholarship to a candidate who desire to return to their home country immediately after graduation. The foundation will carefully consider nominees for the
award who want to build a business or who want to continue operating a family business in their country of citizenship.
The ideal candidate is one who is leaving a family business to go to business school or who is currently an entrepreneur applying to business school and…
1. Could not afford to return to a family business or an entrepreneurial business without financial assistance or
2. Is currently working in a developed country and wants to return home after his or her education to work in a family business or start a business and will need financial assistance to do so or
- Is a foreign national living and working in a developing economy and wants to start a business in that country after getting their MBA
To nominate a candidate for the scholarship, a school must provide proof that the candidate meets the criteria above. The student must demonstrate they meet the above criteria during the application process. Examples that a school can provide demonstrating a candidate’s qualification for nomination are: essays that describe a career ambition to start or run a family business, essays that describe experience owning a business, or a comprehensive business plan written by the nominee and submitted to potential investors for starting a business in their home country. The scholarship foundation will also require a resume (in English) and proof of attendance at an MBA Tour event submitted by the student.
To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must be nominated by one and only one school that participated in an MBA Tour event(s) the student attended. In addition, the
student must be accepted by the nominating school.
The foundation will award scholarships directly to the institution and reserves the right to stagger payments over the course of study. The foundation also reserves the right to ask students and the school to confirm that the criteria for awarding scholarship are still valid.
