Personal Commitment

C

ommitment is an action on our part in response to God. There is no point talking about commitment unless we have at least theintention to commit. Our purpose is to call forth a specific active response to God, and not just to increase our head knowledge. Commitment implies a “promise” to be faithful and loyal to a cause! The rainbow has been used, biblically, (Genesis 9:13) as a symbol of “God’s promise to humankind” but today we use it as our promise to be totally committed to God.

The Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society is beautifully adorned with colors that make up this “rainbow of total commitment.” We, theParent Body, (Purple and Gold) are totally committed to honor and lift God up in our service and suffering. The YAMS (Peach & Taupe) are totally committed to be loyal and joyous in our charity as well as our promise, praise and petition. The Youth Missionary Society (Navy Blue & Gold) are totally committed to truthfully and honorably uphold the watchword, “Christ for Every Youth, Every Youth for Christ!”. BUDS of Promise (Green and White) are totally committed to growing in purity as they “bloom for Jesus!” Bureau of Supply (Pink and White) are totally committed to pure faith and excellence in service as we “walk with the Master!” Life Members (Red and White) are totally committed to joyously “throwing out the life line” so that we might charitably, “Each One, MakeOne!” This “rainbow coalition” of commitment is both public and personal.

#1Galatians 6:9 (NIV) Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Prayer:Dear God, Let me not lose heart in doing good, for in due time I shall reap if I do not grow weary.

#2Acts2:42 (NIV) The Fellowship of the Believers - They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Prayer:Help me Lord to continually devote myself to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

#32 Timothy 4:7 (NIV) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Prayer: Lord, help me to fight the good fight, assist me to finish my course, help me to keep the faith.

#4Colossians1:29 (NIV) To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.

Prayer: Lord, it is for this purpose that I also labor, striving according to Your power, which works mightily within me.

#5Galatians 5:1 (NIV) Freedom in Christ - It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Prayer: Dear God, help me to know that it was for freedom that Christ has set me free; help me to stand firm and not submit again to a yoke of slavery.

#62 Timothy1:12 (NIV) That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard.

Prayer:Dear God, it is for this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that You are able to guard what I have entrusted to You until that day.

#7Proverbs 16:3 (NIV) Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Prayer:Dear God, Help me to Commit my works to the LORD and help my plans to be established.

I'll say yes, Lord, yes
I'll say yes, Lord, yes
To your will and to your way
I'll say yes, Lord, yes
I will trust you and obey
When your Spirit speaks to me
With my whole heart I'll agree
And my answer will be yes, Lord, yes
Verse:
Lord, I give you all the glory
For all You've given me
You have filled my life until I overflow
I'm yours to use
In an anyway You choose
You are Lord of all, so how can I say no?
verse 2
If I never knew the fullness
of living in your will
I would never know how rich my life would be
Lord, my willingness to serve is the least that you deserve
for the blessings you have showered over me
  1. Standing on the promises of God
  2. Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
  3. Refrain:
    Standing, standing,
    Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
    Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
  4. Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
  5. Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call,
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.
