Education: / 1.  To be educated to A level standard in English Language or can demonstrate 2 years’ recent experience working at a level requiring the use of English Language to that standard.
Work Experience: / 2.  To be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills (written and oral), including the ability to constructively challenge existing practices.
3.  To demonstrate experience in a role that requires detailed report writing that includes the submission of findings and recommendations.
4.  To be have experience in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel at a competent level.
5.  To demonstrate an ability to undertake complex criminal/ internal investigations including gathering and presenting information.
6.  Candidates should have some knowledge of Police and Criminal Evidence Act and Police Conduct Regulations.
7.  To have experience of dealing with/handling complaints from the public and demonstrate knowledge of the police complaints system.
8.  To have experience in a role requiring the use of investigation skills in dispute/conflict resolution, crime-related or Human Resource areas. / In-depth knowledge of PACE, CPIA, Human Rights Act.
Detailed working knowledge of Complaints against the Police legislation and Police Misconduct Regulations.
Experience of conducting interviews in line with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act and the preparation of case files to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Personal / Interpersonal Skills, Aptitudes: / 9.  To have experience of providing briefings and training input on both an individual and group basis.
10.  To have experience in a role which requires resilience whilst managing a high workload and prioritising work to meet deadlines.

Contacts: / Officers of the Force of all ranks and of other Forces, Police and Crime Commissioner, Police Staff, BCU and Directorates, Crown Prosecution Service, Independent Police Complaints Authority, Superintendents Association, Police Federation, members of the general public and Unison.
Role: / To undertake criminal and misconduct investigations relating to members of police staff and Police Officers. To undertake investigations into public complaints and other matters as directed by the appropriate authority or line management. To prepare investigation reports and manage processes leading to misconduct meetings and hearing. To complete referrals to internal and external agencies including the IPCC and CPS.
Duties / Responsibilities
Operational: / To undertake criminal and misconduct investigations relating to members of police staff and Police Officers.
To undertake investigations into public complaints and other matters at the direction of the appropriate authority.
To complete referrals to internal and external agencies including the IPCC and CPS.
Disciplinary Proceedings / To assist with the preparation and presentation of misconduct proceedings in line with appropriate guidelines.
Multi-agency / Partnership working / To liaise with the Police and Crime Commissioners office and Crown Prosecution Service and other agencies regarding investigations and other relevant issues, including the IPCC.
Quality / Attention to Detail / To identify and progress quality issues arising from investigations.
To identify and progress learning issues and best practice arising from investigations.
To challenge existing processes and propose improvements and areas for development.
General / To undertake other duties commensurate with the post as may be required for the safe and effective performance of the job.
