Job purpose
To teach at undergraduate and possibly postgraduate level, to coordinate two large undergraduate modules in quantitative and research methods, to assist in coordinating, monitoring and supervising the activities of PGTAs and to contribute to the training and development of staff and PGTAs in respect to teaching.
Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities / % Time /
1.  / Coordinate STAT1003 Introduction to Quantitative Methods and STAT2009 Research Methods in the Social Sciences, including organising tutorials and computer workshops. / 50%
2.  / Support the teaching objectives of the Division and School by delivering a range of teaching and assessment activities including lectures, seminars, computer workshops, tutorials, and setting and marking coursework and examinations. / 30%
3.  / Assisting in coordinating, monitoring and supervising the activities of PGTAs. / 10%
4.  / Contributing to the continuing improvement of the Department’s teaching strategy possibly including work on, the NSS, training and development of staff and PGTAs in respect to teaching or other administrative duties as allocated by the Head.. / 10%
Internal and external relationships /
The post holder will be a member of the Departmental Board and Examination Board and of such AU, Faculty or University committees relevant to their administrative duties. New appointees will be assigned a senior colleague to guide their development. Teaching and administrative duties will be allocated by the Head of Department in consultation with the Head of Teaching Programmes.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience / Honours Degree in a quantitative social science, such as population sciences, economics, psychology or in statistics
Postgraduate degree in statistics, a social science subject or related discipline
Good knowledge of quantitative and research methods
Ability to teach in different formats, including lectures and tutorials / PhD or equivalent professional qualification
Experience of teaching in different formats, including lectures and tutorials
Experience of teaching in HE
