Program Objectives
Upon completion of this program, dental hygienists will be able to:
Improve their ability to assess the dentition, supporting structures, and implants.
Enhance their skills in documentation and radiolographic analysis for historical comparison.
Demonstrate compliance with the American Association of Periodontology guidelines in charting and documentation on paper and computer records.
Understand treatment planning

Provide a list of resources for use in the practice of dental hygiene.
About the Presenters
Dr. Marybeth Shaffer is a 1978 graduate of Youngstown State UniversityDental Hygiene Program and a 1982 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. She completed her general practice residency in 1983 at Youngstown Hospital Association. She has served as a part-time instructor at YSU since 1983 and has a private practice in Leetonia, Ohio.
Dorene Ash, DDS, is a 1986 graduate of YoungstownStateUniversity in Dental Hygiene and a 1991 The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. She completed a general practice residency at the Youngstown Hospital Association in 1992. She earned her Master’s of Science in 1995 at the University of Kentuckywith a certificate in Periodontology. She has served as a part-time instructor at YSU since 1995. She currently has a periodontal practice in Canton, Ohio.
Continuing Education
This program is approved for 6.5hours of continuing education for dental hygienists and dentists as recognized by the Ohio State Dental Board.
Fee and Registration
The fee for this course includes handouts, continental breakfast and a buffet lunch. Registrations must be postmarked by:
August 29, 2008. If postmarked after
August 29, 2008, the registration fee will be increased by $15.00. NO REFUNDS after September 3, 2008.
NOTE TO STUDENTS: You have the option to have lunch on your own. In this case, you do not need to pay the $20.00 registration fee; but you still need to complete the registration form and send it in.
