WORK WEEK:Hours not to exceed 40 hours per week. Grant funded for 12 months

WAGE CLASSIFICATION:Non-exempt

OSHA CLASSIFICATION:Low

SUMMARY POSITION STATEMENT

Under the supervision of the Enrollment Assistant worker, working closely with the Revenue Cycle Manager and/or Finance Director, this grant-funded position conducts enrollment activities for X to identify, contact and enroll uninsured patients and community members into health insurance coverage. Assists all X staff with processes that identify uninsured patients and enroll them in insurance for which they qualify. Participates inoutreach activities on behalf of X. X manages patient care using a team-based approach in our interactions with patients and working to achieve stated objectives and outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

  • Assists patients and uninsured patients and community members in-person and by phone with enrollment into insurance coverage they choose.
  • Maintains current knowledge of all insurance programs available in X service area.
  • MonitorsX daily appointment schedules to identify and contact uninsured patients to screen for and enroll in available insurance coverage.
  • Assists with training to front desk, nursing and other Xstaff on insurance overages.
  • Assists with tracking and reporting progress on decreasing number of uninsured patients and other reporting as required.
  • Assists with outreach activities.
  • Functions in accordance with and in support of X mission, vision, policies and procedures.
  • Will need to obtaintraining to be a certified application counselor within one month of hire.
  • Participate in webinars/trainings to stay informed and up to date on the Affordable Care Act.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

  • Educate patients on Xintake policies.
  • Stays current with enabling program options within the community and state.
  • Perform other job duties and responsibilities as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: High school diploma or the equivalent. BA or AA degree in related field preferred.

License: No license required.

Experience: 3 years experience in a medical office.Experience dealing with underserved populations and cultural competency preferred.

  • Possess and utilize proficient use of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel and Outlook and be able to input patient data quickly and efficiently.

  • Must pass State required background and pre-hire drug screen.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Prolonged sitting; occasional bending, stooping and stretching.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare appropriately.
  • May be occasional lifting papers or boxes up to 15 pounds.
