Permits will be granted to the applicant (applicant must be present) on a first-come first-serve basis starting at 7:45 A.M. on Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at the Dane County Parks Office, located in the Lyman F. Anderson Agriculture and Conservation Center at 1 Fen Oak Ct. Madison 53718. The Access Permit (administrative fee) is $10 per Archer. Applicants must be present to receive a permit unless he/she is a youth (16 years or less), in which case a parent or guardian can complete, sign and receive a permit. An applicant can receive only one Access Permit per season.

All hunters applying for this permit must purchase all necessary WI Department of Natural Resources licenses and strictly follow all state DNR hunting rules for the management area in which they will bow hunt.

Archery Hunt Rules:

Bow must be in a case when walking through Park Closed Areas (all public use areas)

Hunter must comply with all DNR Deer Hunting Rules for the Deer Management Area being hunted.

A valid DNR Deer harvest tag(s) is required to harvest deer within the parks.

No hunting within 100 feet of “Archery Hunt Closed Area” as designated on official map. Closed Areas include: private property, park buildings, play areas, campsites, parking lots, trails and all mowed/maintained areas. Note: hunting may take place adjacent to agricultural fields within the park if the location is 100’ from any closed areas.

No target practice or shooting at anything other than a legal target.

Hunters must carry and visibly display (on person) the Access Permit while hunting in route to hunt.

Access to hunting areas is through designated park access points or from adjacent property with the owner’s permission.

Hunters may use portable tree stands and/or ground blinds – all structures must be removed at the end of the day.

The damaging of trees or removal of vegetation is prohibited.

Archery Access Permit is valid for only one property, one archer and is not transferable to another person.

Tracking Deer:

  • Do not enter any private property without the permission of the owner.
  • If tracking a deer after dark, the Dane County Sheriff’s Department must be notified at (608) 255-2345.

No motorized vehicles are allowed off designated roads and parking areas unless permitted by the Park Director. A non-motorized cart may be used to transport harvested deer.

Disabled hunters should contact the park office if special accommodations are needed.

Non-hunting park patrons have the right to utilize the entire parks during park hours. Hunters must use care and be safety conscious at all times. County park lands are open for dog walking. Dog owners are required to have their dogs under control and leashed unless they are within designated off-leash Dog Exercise Area.
