L.S.A.A. CHEERLEADING

PEE-WEE COMPETITION TEAM

RULES AND REGULATIONS

PARENT AND CHEERLEADER CODE OF CONDUCT

1. The Pee-Wee Competition Team’s goal is to teach the basic fundamentals of competitive cheerleading and to make this a memorable experience while each cheerleader makes new friends. The main focus is to make this a fun activity and hopefully encourage the cheerleaders to pursue cheer for years to come.

2. Since we only practice for one hour per week and two Saturdays a month (see below), a commitment to attend all practices is very important. The cheers and/or routines frequently involve partner stunts/pyramids which require all of the people in order to practice/perform. Therefore if a cheerleader has more than two unexcused absences, he/she will be dismissed from the team.

3. DISRESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR will NOT be tolerated. All cheerleaders are expected to follow the direction of the directors and/or coaches at all practices and cheerleading events. If a cheerleader is disrespectful, he/she will be cut from the team immediately.

4. No profanity or abusive language.

5. NO GOSSIP about any other teams, NO GOSSIP about a child on your team or another team, NO GOSSIP about directors, coaches, and staff. It is much better to address a problem then to listen to idle gossip!

6. NEVER post any negative comments/photos on any websites or chat rooms.

7. Anyone threatening to quit or to pull their child from a squad will be dismissed from the program immediately.

8. All L.S.A.A. cheerleaders and L.S.A.A. family/friends are expected to show good sportsmanship at all times.

9. Every cheerleader must be willing to take extra time, besides the regular practice, to work on the routines at home.

10. Being on time for practice and competitions is mandatory. We begin promptly at the starting time of each practice. Punctuality is a MUST.

11. Practices will begin in September and last until about May. Practices will take place on Thursdays from 6-7pm. We also practice two Saturdays during each month from 10-11PM. We will be practicing during the week of Christmas Break. Once a competition date gets close, practices may be extended to more days and hours.

12. Parents are welcomed to stay during the duration of practice, but must refrain from talking. Cheerleaders need to be able to hear their coaches and focus on their routines. No one is allowed to yell onto the floor or try to make contact with a child during practices. This is extremely distracting and a safety issue to all involved.

13. Tumbling is a crucial element to competitive cheerleading routines. Tumbling classes at various clinics will be provided to our teams for an additional fee, and we encourage our cheerleaders to try to attend some or all of these tumbling sessions.

14. Missing a competition is not an option & will result in dismissal from the team. We are planning to attend 4-5 local competitions. Specific dates and times will be provided at as soon as possible.

15. Each cheerleader is required to pay a $80 nonrefundable registration fee. $5 of this fee will be deposited into the Lower Southampton AA Family Relief Fund. Parents registering more than one cheerleader will receive a discounted registration fee. Please inquire for prices.

16. Each cheerleader is required to purchase his/her own uniform. The cost ranges from $200-250. This includes for the ladies: shell, skirt, crop top, sneakers, hair ribbon, and hair piece. This includes for the gentlemen: shell, pants, and sneakers. Uniform fundraising opportunities will be available to assist in offsetting the cost.

17. FUNDRAISING is another very important commitment required on this team. We will be fundraising continuously throughout the whole season. Each cheerleader is required to do his or her own part or pay the set fee.

Each cheerleader has a fundraising fee that must be PAID, out of pocket, or EARNED, by fundraising. The amount is evenly split into two payments with due dates for each. This fee covers 8 months of cheerleading for your child. The fees are staggered – with Varsity paying more than JV and JV paying more than PW since a large portion of this money pays for our practice time at Poquessing. This money also covers competition entry fees, bus fees, music & choreography fees and other miscellaneous costs.

TEAM 1st Payment DUE on 12/13/12 2nd Payment DUE on 2/28/12

Varsity $100 $100

JV $75 $75

PW $50 $50

Several fundraisers will run leading up to each due date. Any profits you earn will go towards your fundraising fee. If you don’t earn enough to cover the 1st payment you will just pay the difference. If you earn more than your 1st payment, the “extra” money earned will go towards your 2nd payment. You can participate in as many fundraisers as you choose or opt to do none and just pay out of pocket.

All money will be tracked in each cheerleader’s “Individual Fundraising Account”. Our fundraising coordinator, Sharon Ritterson, will record all profits earned as well as all fees paid on individual record sheets for each cheerleader. Your account will always have a running balance so you can see at any time how much you have earned or the amount still owed.

This fundraising goes to all of our team’s needs and saves our parents a tremendous amount of money, for this type of sport can get very expensive.

Our expenses include competition entry fees, transportation, choreography, music, facility rental fees and energy fees. Also, cheerleaders will have the option to fundraise for his/her uniform and/or his/her trip to nationals.

18. Cheerleaders are not permitted to start practicing without all appropriate forms completed and fees paid in full.

19. Each cheerleader must dress accordingly for every practice. Sneakers and socks must be worn. NO JEANS! Hair must be pulled back away from face. No jewelry of any kind. No gum. If these dress codes are not properly followed, the cheerleader will not be permitted to practice. This will be counted as a missed practice. This is for your own safety.

20. Cell phones are required to be turned off or put on silent during practice times.

21. Parents and cheerleaders must stay informed. There are many reminders, updates, and required paperwork that will be sent home from almost every practice. A cheerleading folder will be distributed at Orientation in order to keep all papers organized.

22. Practice changes, cancellations, and reminders will be communicated through e-mail. Please check your email on a regular basis. If you have trouble with your email and require a phone call, please let us know.

23. Due dates for forms, fees, etc. must be followed. Failure to abide by these due dates without any communication to the director and/or co-director will result in dismissal from the team.

24. We ask for parental support. Your cheerleader works very hard at each and every practice to prepare for our competitions. Your attendance at these competitions is so important and crucial to our score sheets. Please join us—the success of our program depends on parent support & involvement.

All of the above rules are in effect and will be strictly followed. Each LSAA Cheerleader is expected to follow these rules. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the squad.
