At Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center our mission is to not only improve the lives of children in our community, but to improve the lives of children across the nation and around the world.
As a direct result of this mission Pediatric Trauma Transformation Collaborative (PTTC) was developed. As a Level I pediatric trauma center our physicians and nurses treat thousands of patients every year. We also have experience working with Level II pediatric trauma sites to improve pediatric trauma care on a regional and national level.
We recognized the need to support trauma centers seeking to provide the children in their communities with the highest level of pediatric trauma care and when appropriate, reduce the need to transfer these patients away from their families and support system
Customized
The PTTC is customizable to the specific needs of participating hospitals.
The collaboration can include a wide variety of components, such as:
• Participation in monthly performance improvement meetings
• Guideline development and support
• Pediatric trauma focused CME/CEU
• Pediatric trauma simulation training focused on teamwork and communication
• 24/7 availability for phone consultation
• Support for trauma center verification process
• Shadowing for physicians, nurses and other providers
The PTTC is currently collaborating with three institutions in the care of injured children.
Improvements in these sites include: St Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne Indiana, and Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.
