Pearson BTEC Sport and Active Leisure - Purpose of study

The Pearson BTEC Entry Level Award (Entry 3) (QCF) and Pearson BTEC Level 1 Award/Certificate (QCF) in Sport and Active Leisure have been developed to give learners the opportunity to:

engage in learning which is relevant to them and will provide opportunities to develop a range of sporting skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life

achieve a nationally recognised Entry or Level 1 vocationally related qualification

progress to employment in sport and active leisure

progress to related general and/or vocational qualifications.

Pearson BTEC Sport and Active Leisure -Aims

The aims of this course is to gain knowledge, understanding and skills that are important in the area of Sport and Active Leisure. This is a vocational qualification geared towards looking at the skills and knowledge needed for working in the sports and leisure industry.

Years 10 and 11

Brief overview
The students will during this two year course undertake the four of the following units:- Taking part in Exercise and Fitness Activities; How the Body Works; Assisting a Leader of Sports or Active Leisure Activities to plan and deliver an event; Job Opportunities in Sport and Active Leisure, Working in Sports and Active Leisure.

 appropriate dress for the activity

  • Identify own strengths and areas for improvement in exercise and fitness activities
