Dear Friends in the field of After School and Youth Development:

The Illinois AfterSchool Network (IAN) is sponsoring the Advanced Leadership Institute. It is the follow-up to the BasicLeadership Institute. The training will be facilitated by Jill Bradley, Director of Family and Neighborhood Partnerships for Illinois Action for Children. Ms. Bradley holds Masters Degrees from Erikson Institute, an affiliate of Loyola University of Chicago as well as from the University of Chicago. She has been involved with children and youth for many years including her role as co-chair of the MOST initiative in Chicago. Jill has supervised programs serving children, youth and families for over thirty years in Chicago. She is a Trainer with the National Institute on Out-Of-School Time (NIOST) and a current member of the IAN.

The Advanced Leadership Institute is a one-day training designed to support After School Program Directors by continuing to develop leadership and advocacy skills along with establishing a stronger peer network within the state of Illinois. Topics covered during this training include: Community Partnerships and Collaborations, Resource Development, Connecting with Schools, and continued Leadership Skills.

When: Friday, March 6, 2015 from 10:00am until 4:00 pm

Where: Eastland Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Bloomington, Illinois

Cost for the training covers training materials, supplies and meals for Illinois residents: $25.00.

Out of state residents: $150.00 Priority will be given to Illinois residents.

Eligible Applicants:

  • Thirty (30) participants will be selected from the state to participate in the IAN Statewide Leadership Training. Participants from any one program may be limited. We will select seven (7) participants from each region of the state based upon the following criteria when selecting participants:
  • Attendance at a Basic Leadership Institute or a strong recommendation letter of support from supervisor to attend without having attended the Basic Leadership Institute.
  • Priority will be given to participants who have attended the Basic Leadership Institute
  • Possess strong leadership qualities in the After School and Youth Development arena
  • In the position to make a direct impact on your respective program
  • Been in current position for three (3) years or more
  • Commitment and availability to attend the one-day Institute.

To benefit from the training, it is critical that the participants arrive on time and stay for the entire day of training. If a training participant has to leave the training before the 4pm dismissal, they will not receive the training certificate. By signing the application form, the applicant agrees to this important time commitment. Completed applications must be submitted to: IAN, Statewide Leadership Training, 3695 South 6th Street, Suite N800, Springfield, Illinois 62703 by Friday, February 6, 2015. Final selection will be completed and individuals will be notified no later than Friday, February 13, 2015.
