Investment / Reason for and description of the Investment / Impact of the Investment and sustainability
Intended investment in Sports specialist- Mr. Grey
(Approx cost £6000) / To raise the profile of PE and school sport.
To provide staff with training, especially with structured ideas for lessons, including using the gymnastic apparatus in a challenging manner.
Lunchtime Physical Activity Club- 10 vulnerable children will work with Mr Grey on Wednesday and Thursday lunchtimes.
After School Club- MG will provide a club for 20 children, the nature of the club will change every 6 weeks/half term o change with the seasons/up-coming events and to appeal to different children. / Mr Grey is to work with two NQT colleagues and two less experienced teachers to extend and develop their knowledge and skills when delivering high quality PE lessons. The teachers will be mentored by Mr Grey to plan and deliver lessons, using the new “Steps in Primary PE” scheme.
Impact: To up skill new and less experienced teachers, initially in terms of gymnastics to be able to confidently deliver lessons of a high quality that engage and motivate pupils to make progress.
Sustainability:
The teachers will have observed and taught lessons with the coach as well as having professional discussions regarding the delivery of PE curriculum. Lesson Plans to be annotated and kept for future reference.
The selected children have encountered difficulties with social interaction, behaviour or accessing the PE curriculum at the appropriate level for their age. Several of the children are also PP.
Impact: The children are closely supervised in a non-threatening, supportive environment where different basic skills are covered. There are fewer incidents of these children appearing on the school tracker at lunchtimes.
Sustainability: The children are developing the ability to work and play alongside others, whilst offering support and help to each other. At the same times, their confidence is growing as they are on the tracking system on fewer occasions. Also, they are improving their physical skills which is positive for their healthy lifestyle and supporting them accessing the curriculum, in lessons, at a higher level with greater confidence.
Overtime payments for Teaching Assistants and Mr. Grey to run clubs. / To increase the number of after school sporting clubs and competitions accessed by pupils.
To increase pupils’ participation in the School Games.
To participate in local and regional sports activities with other schools. / The range of clubs available to pupils has increased; staff listened to the requests of the children and as a result are now offering a wider variety of physical activity groups after school.
