The Democratic Labor Party (PDT) (Partido Democrático Trabalhista) is a center-left political founded in 1979 by Leonel Brizola to reorganize the Brazilian left during the end of the military dictatorship. It joined the Socialist International in 1986.

In the last legislative elections of 6 October, 2002, the party won 21 of 513 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and 5 out of 81 seats in the Senate. At the last municipal elections, in October 2004, the party elected 300 mayors and 3,252 city councilors, earning 5.5 million votes. The PDT is fielding Cristovam Buarque as its 2006 presidential candidate.

Following the Mensalão Scandal, the PDT has won the support of some leftist groups that broke away from Lula and the PT.
