BACKGROUND
Capital Zone Basketball Trust (CZBT) is the Regional Sports Office (RSO) for basketball in the Greater Wellington Region. Areas include Upper & Lower Hutt, Porirua, Wellington, Kapiti and Wairarapa. Our role is to lead the development of basketball in the region and co-ordinate the efficient and effective delivery of services to the basketball community.
CZBT Purpose – Basketball is the sport of choice in the Wellington region.
CZBT Mission – To lead the growth and development of basketball in Greater Wellington Region by the delivery of exceptional basketball programmes in a collaborative, community focused and sustainable manner.

SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF ROLE
Lead the development and delivery of contemporary basketball programmes within the capital region.
This includes:
·  design of learning and development frameworks,
·  training needs analysis,
·  training design incorporating ‘style of play’ as agreed by stakeholders which player and coach development will be driven from.
·  management of training delivery to ensure high quality targeted development programmes are delivered.
·  support the team by completing any other activities or tasks as necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.  Leadership
To lead the development of basketball initiatives to enhance the delivery of basketball and ensure a unified approach to basketball within the region
2.  Stakeholder Management
·  Build strong and trusting relationships with Associations to ensure easy communication of ideas, plans and resource.
·  Ensure all stakeholders are communicated to in a manner that is appropriate, effective and always professional.
·  Attend and/or lead meetings relevant to coaching and player development.
·  Support positive relationships, internal and external to promote and grow basketball and the CZBT brand.
3.  Basketball Development
·  Work with Associations to develop policies and programmes, in alignment with CZBT’s strategic plan, for growth of basketball in our region.
·  Understand the community within which they are operating to maximise development and participation.
·  Manage CZBT’s database for players, coaches, managers, and key volunteers.
·  Work with other CZBT staff to organise an effective timetable for any development programmes and / or training sessions and maintain an annual development calendar marking all events.
4.  Player and Coach Development
·  Work in partnership with Associations to manage all necessary CZBT representative programme requirements.
·  Actively recruit and retain players across all age level including new participants.
·  Develop and advertise programmes and courses for players, coaches and officials to develop their skills.
·  Identify and facilitate development of elite players at all levels.
·  Identify and facilitate development of coaches at all levels.
·  Local pride and identity are fostered and promoted through strong representative pathways.
·  Develop well rounded members of the community.
5.  Leagues and Tournaments
·  Develop and facilitate junior and senior leagues across the region.
·  Actively encourage and market the leagues.
·  Facilitate scheduling of officials across all levels.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
·  Demonstrated record of success with player and coach development and recruitment.
·  Strong coaching background across multiple age groups and levels with a commitment to increasing participation in the sport
·  Strong interpersonal skills, across a wide range of stakeholders and being able to create strong lasting relationships with players, coaches and officials
·  Evidence of personal contribution as a strong team player, facilitating effective team-working to deliver outcomes
·  Demonstrated high level of communication skills, both written and oral, including interpersonal, negotiation and consultation skills. Able to interact and communicate to a wide range of people.
