JOB TITLE: Trustee
Pay: Unpaid role, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed
Work pattern: Up to one two hour council meeting per month, plus some additional development meetings through-out year
Term of employment: At least one year, with annual review and re-election. The majority of Cherry Orchards trustees serve for a number of years.

About Cherry Orchards
Cherry Orchards is a CQC registered care home and therapeutic community in Bristol offering a full on-site residential or day programme supporting recovery and development for individuals with mental health problems.
Cherry Orchards’ aim is to help adults recovering from the debilitating effect of any life crisis; this may include mental health or psychological problems, learning difficulties, individuals recovering from substance or alcohol abuse, and any other form of emotional distress. The community provides a warm and active environment in a peaceful semi-rural setting.
In addition to residential placements, Cherry Orchards offers day placements of between two and seven days a week. This enables people who are not currently living at Cherry Orchards to access our range of activities and resources.
Service Outline
As a member of the trustee team,it is envisaged that new trustees will play acritical role in in the strategic planning and governance of the community and care home. Cherry Orchards trustees are encouraged to get to know Cherry Orchards and its work, this can include visiting the care home and community, reviewing policies and procedures, attending meals and social events and being present at staff appraisals. Trustees are encouraged to find their own way of relating to Cherry Orchards.
Principal Accountabilities:
- To oversee and mandate the Community Management Team in the management of a Residential Care Home that enables, supports and maintains a homelyatmosphere and environment wherein the rights, dignity, diversity,independence and well-being of service users is maintained.
- To strategically oversee with the development and enablement of the management of arange of services to meet the needs of service users (beneficeries) .
- To oversee the development, implementation and monitoring of qualityassurance systems in the service.
- To sign off service policies and practices.
- To be willing to work within an Anthroposophical model. You do not need to an anthroposophist to be a trustee, or even to know much about anthroposophy, just a willingness to learn and to support others to work in this way.
- To oversee the management of resources and budgets and maintainappropriate financial records in line with financial guidelines.
- To assist theother managers and the service in ensuring that the Care Home ismanaged through full compliance of the Care Standards Act 2000 and National Minimum Standards.

Person Specification Requirements
Position: Mental Health Service Manager
The following are the criteria that will be used for Shortlisting
Essential:
-Relevant qualification to allow for approval as a registered manager with CQC (or willingness and ability to pursue the path to qualification)
-Significant experience in mainstream or voluntary sector mental health provision working with all levels of staff and management
-Demonstrate a good knowledge of severe mental illness and recovery
-Demonstrate substantial experience of assessing risk and developing risk management strategies
-Experience of and continued commitment to direct therapeutic work with clients
-Experience of working within a complex and dynamically developing organisation
-Familiarity with Anthroposophical methodology in therapeutic Adult Social Care, or willingness to learn
-Willingness to take part in the social and spiritual life of the community
-Ability to work in a non-hierarchal structure, showing independent initiative and accountability within a team
-Ability to develop new and responsive range of service provision
-Demonstrate a high level of self awareness and personal resilience personal resilience
-Demonstrate a high level of emotional and social intelligence
-Demonstrate an ability to empathise with and engage with the client group
-Commitment to developing strong team building through self reflective practise and feedback to others
-Excellent communication skills
-Experience of managing budgets
