Governance Support Adviser

Contract Type: Permanent

Pay Scale: £29,323 - £32,486 per annum, pro rata

Location: The Old Deanery, Wells, with travel across schools – with focus in the Bath area

Working time: Part Time, 14.5 hours per week worked over 2 days with some flexibility to meet the needs of the role. Regular attendance at evening meetings.

Due to rapid expansion and growth the central team for the Bath & Wells Multi Academy Trust (BWMAT) are looking to appoint a Governance Support Adviser.

The Governance Support Adviser will take a joint lead on developing and supporting effective governance across the BWMAT in relation to:

  • Developing and implementing effective and sustainable systems of governance across the BWMAT
  • Enhancing professional practice in the efficient and effective management of governing bodies
  • Raising standards of achievement of pupils and leadership in BWMAT schools through effective governance
  • Organising professional development/training programmes for groups of governors and individual governors and members of the central team as appropriate
  • Providing advice and guidance to support effective governance across the BWMAT
  • Advising and supporting the management of complaints

The ideal candidate will have good up to date knowledge of governance requirements in schools/Local Authorities/Multi Academy Trusts, ideally with experience in providing governance advice and training within the education sector. The candidate will provide excellent customer service and develop and maintain positive working relationships with schools and local governing board members. They will be experienced in the development and delivery of training courses
