How Should I Study Tonight?

  • Type your spelling words 3 times using a different, fun font each time!
  • Spell your words in shaving cream, sand, pudding, rice, etc.
  • Play hangman with your parents using your spelling words.
  • Spell your words while jumping rope or throwing a ball back and forth with a parent.
  • Spell your words using motions (rocket ship, air guitar, disco dancing, etc.)
  • Write your words in exciting sentences!
  • Spell your words using pipe cleaners, wikki sticks, popsicle sticks, or items from nature such as sticks, rocks, etc.
  • In a darkened room, use a flashlight to draw your words in the air.
  • Number the alphabet from 1-26. Convert your words to a code. On another day, solve your code!
  • Write your words in cursive two times each.
  • Scramble your words. On another day, try to unscramble them!
  • Juggle your words! (If you can’t juggle, toss a ball back and forth with a friend.)
  • Write your words with your opposite hand!
  • Search for your spelling words in magazines or newspapers. Cut them out and glue them to paper.
  • Go to click on puzzle maker and create a word search with your words and then find the words!
  • Write your spelling words in rainbow colors.
  • Spell your words using rice or cereal.
  • Say your spelling words in different voices. Try a robot, an opera singer, a mouse, etc…
  • Use your finger to spell out each word on your Mom or Dad’s back. Can they guess the word?
  • Using a paintbrush and water, spell your words on colored construction paper. Why does the water disappear?
  • Write your words with 2 colored pens. Use one color for vowels and one color for consonants.
  • Hopscotch your words. Make a hopscotch board and spell your words out loud as you hop.
  • Create your own way! Anyway that helps you learn your words, is a great way!
