Patten Point Yacht Club
Probationary Membership Application
2010

Ahoy, and welcome aboard the Patten Point Yacht Club.

At Patten Point, we are proud of our heritage as a family oriented yacht club. Our children are an integral part of our boating community. Many have grown up here and, as adults, are now raising their own families in the wholesome atmosphere this yacht club promotes.

There is plenty to do. Members have access to our beautiful swimming pool and historic clubhouse. The children's playground is equipped with safe and fun swings and slides.

We also have a very active social calendar. It is at the center of who and what we are. We try to enjoy at least one social event every month of the year. The schedule of events during boating season understandably becomes much more active. While we respect the privacy of every boater, we expect members to participate in the Patten Point community that has developed over the past four decades. It is through the interaction of members that Patten Point is able to provide an attractive, convenient, economical and safe harbor. We all work together to maintain our clubhouse, grounds and the marina. If you are just looking for an inexpensive place to keep your boat, we are not the yacht club for you.

New membership applications, when they are accepted, are considered probationary. As a probationary member you will have all the responsibilities, rights and privileges of a regular member with the exception of automatic membership renewal. At the end of the first year after joining Patten Point, probationary members may apply for regular membership.

The Constitution of the Patten Point Yacht Club limits the combined probationary and regular membership to 70 families. When a vacancy occurs, and your name is at the top of the application list, you will be asked to meet with the Membership Committee. If the committee approves your application, a letter to that effect will be sent to all members of Patten Point Yacht Club. Then your application, along with any comments from the general membership, will be presented to the Board of Governors. Upon a positive vote from the Board, you will be installed as a probationary member at the next general meeting of the yacht club.

Fees:

Application fee: A $500 fee application must accompany your application. The fee will be applied to your yacht club initiation fee if your application is accepted. If the application is denied, the fee will be returned to you in full. If you withdraw your application, the fee will be forfeited.

(E) Social: You will be expected to attend at least 4 social events with a total obligation of$200 worth of social functions annually. This requirement is extremely important in the probationary year.

Work Obligation:

All families are expected to contribute at least 30 annual hours of work to maintain the club. Such work includes, but is not limited to, cleaning the swimming pool, cutting shrubs, bar tending, repairing docks, installing bubbler systems or decorating for parties. Think of Patten Point Yacht Club as your boating home that needs all the care that your land-locked home requires. You will discover Patten Point Yacht Club is a great place to be. Its location and amenities make it one of the premier yacht clubs on the northeast coast. We have reciprocal agreements with other yacht clubs throughout this region. But if you never sail to those clubs, Patten Point is a wonderful club to dock your vessel, to swap maritime stories, trade boating secrets, raise a family, socialize, or just to sit back and relax.

We look forward to your application. Please mail it, signed, along with the appropriate fees to:

Ira Friesheim, Rear Commodore
3 Bowling Drive

Livingston, New Jersey 07039

All fees are subject to change by the Board of Governors.

I have read the above and agree to the terms.
