Vision

Pathways to Technology Magnet High School empowers its diverse community of students to become fully active participants in our global, technology-driven society. Through Project-Based Learning students acquire technological and critical thinking skills, and develop a sense of personal and social responsibility that enables them to successfully compete in the growing, fast-paced, and rapidly changing world economy.

Mission

Pathways to Technology Magnet High School seeks to accomplish its vision through:

  • Employing innovative and collaborative learning through the use of cutting-edge technology.
  • Providing rigorous academic curricula focusing on high achievement.
  • Fostering a belief that all students can achieve.
  • Establishing a team of dedicated and knowledgeable professionals willing to grow tithe changing technological world.
  • Developing partnerships with the business community that allows students to explore work-based experiences such as mentoring, internships, and career exploration.
  • Reducing racial, ethnic & economic isolation of students in urban and rural schools.
  • Encouraging parents, students, & teachers to work together to create a positive and safe learning environment.

Pathways’ emphasis is on technology skills and their application into three areas: multimedia, computer science and business technology.

Multimedia- Computer Animation, Digital Video and Media, Graphic Arts, Web Design, and Video Game Design.

Computer Science- Programming, Networking, Database Development.

Business Technology- E-Commerce, Entrepreneurship.

School and Community

  • Pathways to Technology is a Hartford Host Magnet High School; that first began as a program at Hartford Public High School 10 years ago.
  • It has existed as a separate high school and state approved magnet school by the state since the 2003-2004 school year.
  • The school is temporarily located in Windsor, CT, but remains a Hartford Host Magnet School.
  • Currently, students from 18 surrounding townsattend Pathways to Technology.

Our Pathways to Technology Industry Advisory Board is composed of business partners who reflect the local business environment and of parents and teachers. The Board is a resource for mentors, internships, experiential learning, curriculum advice, as well as current industry needs.

Course Levels

All courses at Pathways to Technology are taught at the Academic or Honors level. We offer AP classes in Biology and Calculus. Special Education students may receive level modifications and accommodations.

Students are ranked. Pathways has block scheduling and operates on a semester calendar.
