JOB DESCRIPTION

pOSITION oBJECTIVE:

To Provide leadership to the Youth Ministries and Worship of American Reformed Church

  1. YOUTH MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES Including but not limited to:

Oversee and lead the High School & Middle School Ministries in a Christ-honoring and youth-appealing way that helps them grow as disciples of Christ.

Plan, organize and facilitate regular group meetings, service opportunities and occasional fundraising and social events. Publicize events effectively to parents, youth, the church and community.

Organize participation of the middle school youth in CIY Believe, clearly communicating all information for youth and families, and organizing travel to and from the conference.

Plan and organize a week-long high school youth summer mission/service trip or camp experience.

Oversee annual Youth Sunday service.

Arrange and promote opportunities for youth to participate in the worship services.

Recruit and train (as needed) volunteers to assist with youth group meetings and events.

Meet with youth individually and attend their life events as appropriate.

At least once per year, discuss with the whole group the significance to making profession of faith, and encourage those who have not yet done so to give serious thought to taking this step.

  1. WORSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES Including but not limited to:

Plan Sunday and special worship services which will resonate across generations and artistic styles.

Communicate with the Pastor, Worship Team and staff in planning worship services. Ensure Sunday logistics and details are fully prepared (order of service, production notes, audiovisual elements, audio and tech support and all other parts and participants in the service).

Oversee the Praise Team, Organists, Pianists, Musicians, Sound Team, Video Team and Worship Team. Recruit, retain and develop volunteer worship team members to fill the needs within American Reformed Church music ministry.

Provide regular opportunities for training and workshops for musicians and other key participants in worship, equipping them to lead worship effectively.

Cast vision for worship at American Reformed Church. Promote a sense of team responsibility for ministry goals and completion of tasks. Lead regular and timely rehearsals, communicate with musicians and organize the groups.

  1. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS Required personal and professional characteristics

Have a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Master of his or her life

Be committed to and promote the mission, vision and core values of American Reformed Church

Be an ordained* Pastorin RCA* (or formula of agreement church) *Preferred not Required

Be a regular attender and actively involved in the life and ministry of American Reformed Church

Possess a love for pre-teen and teenagers and a passion for discipling them in the way of Jesus Christ.

Be able to communicate clearly and effectively, and be comfortable leading Bible studies and small group discussions with youth.

Have a love for the worship of God and a delight to help the body of Christ worship corporately.

Be proficient in singing and playing piano or guitar with the ability to lead while playing.

Be committed to ongoing personal and vocational growth.

Have strong organizational skills, creative thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Be self-motivated.

Be able to work well with people

  1. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Meet monthly with consistory.

Meet with executive committee as requested.

Completed criminal background check upon hiring and annually

Preach approximately once a month.

  1. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

The Pastor Of Youth and Worship will be hired by and accountable to the consistory. He/she shall be directly supervised and annually evaluated by the Personnel Committee. Evaluations will take place twice yearly.

  1. POSITION COMPENSATION

Salary and housing will be in accordance with Mid-America Regional synod guidelines.
