Location: Okeene, Oklahoma

Status: Full time Pastor

Reports to: Church Leadership Board

Statement: ZionBaptistChurch seeks a pastor candidate eager to minister to a small rural farming community. ZionBaptistChurch exists as a place where people can investigate, discover, build on, and express their relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Zion Baptist faces the same challenges as many churches today as Christians display less commitment and society is increasingly disinterested in the Truth. Yet, we seek to provide a Spirit-Filled community for believers to fellowship and grow while reaching others with the Gospel. It is a consensus at ZionBaptistChurch that evangelism, along with discipleship be a focus of our ministry.

Requirements and Qualifications

  1. Personal Attributes
  • To have a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Be a man of prayer and personal Bible study, sensitive to God’s leading and willing to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ
  • A commitment to Jesus Christ, demonstrated in a well-integrated faith and spiritual maturity along with a defined call to pastoral life and relational ministry.
  • To be loyal, faithful, honest, teachable, humble and approachable
  • To be willing to affirm to Zion Baptist’s statement of beliefs and the North American Baptist Conference’s statement of beliefs and sign NAB Pastoral Code of Ethics
  • To have the qualities of an elder as described in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1:6-9
  • To be a gifted leader with the ability and passion to love, care for, and disciple others
  • To be a team player and have the ability to work well with others
  1. Evangelism/teaching/preaching
  • Faithfully communicate the truth of God’s Word through Biblical based preaching meeting the needs of the congregation.
  • Reveal the “Good News” of Jesus Christ both practically and verbally to people of all races both inside and beyond the church community
  • Be primary pastor to plan and lead Sunday Worship Services and Sunday evening prayer groups, along with administering the Lord’s Supper.
  • Be committed to the truthfulness and authority of the Scriptures
  • Beable to preach and teach from the Word of God in a plain, clear, and relevant way in the following three styles: expository, topical, and evangelistic with an emphasis on practical application.
  1. Administration
  • Provide Biblical leadership through focusing on God’s Word and prayer
  • To, along with the Leadership Board, plan the overall direction of the church and uphold the policies of ZionBaptistChurch
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours; responsible for overall ministry operations of the church.
  • Participate in and promote the cooperative ministries of the North American Baptist Conference.
  1. Pastoral Care
  • To be a true pastor to the people by being available
  • Oversee and participate in the visitation of those who are in need, within and outside the church, i.e. sick, shut in, grieving, etc.
  • To "shepherd the flock" by visiting active and inactive members on a regular basis as well as visiting prospective members.
  • To be available for all pastoral ministries: weddings, funerals, denominational representation, baby dedications, counseling, etc.
  • Perform Baptisms
  • Connect with the local area residents through community involvement such as Ministerial Alliance, etc.
  1. Discipleship.
  • Equip the saints to do the work of ministry (Acts 6, I Peter 5, and Ephesians 4) not attempting to do all the ministries himself, but responsible for developing lay leadership through equipping, mentoring, and motivating others
  • Be active in Sunday School, Kidz Zone, and Youth Group activities
  • Be an active member of the Oklahoma Fellowship Youth Camp
  1. Education
  • To hold (minimally) a Bachelor’s Degree from a respected Bible College or Seminary from an institution recognized by Zion Baptist Church and North American Baptist Conference for its biblical teaching and its stance on social issues as taught by the Word of God
  • Preferred major: Biblical studies, Pastoral Studies, Theological Studies
  • Be ordained, or eligible to be ordained by the North American Baptist Conference.
