Passport to Fun! Summer Camp Scholarships

The City of Pasadena, Human Services and Recreation Department is proud to offer Passport to Fun! Scholarships to qualified applicants aged 12 and under; living in Pasadena or attending a Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) School to ensure that all City residents have the opportunity to participate in recreational classes, programs and camps to further enrich their lives. Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis until such time as limited funding is exhausted. Applicants must submit a completed application along with proof of restricted income and residency by published deadlines. The application window will open on Wednesday, February 21 and will close on Friday, March 9.

Summer Camp Scholarships
Approximately 60partial scholarships are available for Summer Camp 2018 at Allendale Park Camp, Arroyo Adventure Camp, Villa-Parke Enrichment Camp and Victory Park Camp. Camp fees are $85-$118 per week depending on the location. Scholarships are for 50% of registration fees. Allendale Park Camp, Arroyo Adventure Camp run six weeks, while Villa-Parke Enrichment Camp and Victory Park Camp run eight weeks. We ask that scholarship applicants participate in at least 4 weeks of camp. In order to accept the scholarship, a 20% non-refundable deposit is due upon registration and camp fees must be paid in full before Friday, June 1. No exceptions will be made to this deadline, and failure to remit payment will result in the loss of the scholarship. In order to be eligible for a scholarship, a customer’s account must be in good standing. Applications for suspended or accounts with balances due will not be considered until the balance is cleared.

Application Process
In order to qualify, applicants must complete an application and submit approved proof of residency and income no later than Friday, March 9.No extensions will be granted. Scholarships are awarded to qualified applicants on a first come, first served basis until such time as funding is exhausted. Applications may be submitted in person at Victory Park Recreation Center, Villa-Parke Community Center or Central Park Center or online at Scholarships are awarded as funding is available and submitting an application does not guarantee the award of a scholarship. In addition to a short application form, applicants must submit acceptable proof of incomeand proof of Pasadena residency.

Proof of Low-Income
Must meet current HUD income limits for extremely low or very income limits only. Submit a copy of signed 2016 or 2017 federal tax returns (1040, 1040A or 1040EZ) or a statement of benefits stating amount received and how often.These are the only acceptable documents for proof of income.Paystubs and/or W2s will not be accepted.

Proof of Residency
Utility bill, lease or proof of child’s enrollment in a Pasadena Unified School District School.

Applicants will be notified of scholarship award on or beforeWednesday, March 21. Please note that all notifications will be done via email or telephone. If no response is received within three days of the initial email, the scholarship will be forfeited and will be awarded to another child. Once a scholarship has been awarded and accepted, a parent or guardian must complete the supplemental paperwork that includes a parent agreement. Scholarship recipients must enroll in camp within five (5) business days of scholarship notification and a 20% non-refundable deposit is required at registration.
