Parents/professionals $35 9/10/16 thru 10/7/16 / Renowned special educator and speaker, Rick Lavoie, will be presenting a 4 hour workshop beginning with an exploration of some of the common misconceptions related to motivation and some of the approaches that are simply ineffective. Specific strategies will be presented that will enable teachers and parents to motivate children and maintain that motivation throughout the year. More than Sticks and Stones / Missy Alexander, Parent Educator with Parents’ Place of Maryland, will present a workshop that offers intervention strategies for parents and caregivers of children with disabilities who may be targeted by bullies at school. Participants will learn how to identify types of bullying, develop strategies to prevent bullying, identify responses to bullying, talk to their child about bullying, and find out about disability harassment laws. / Board of Education
