Part one-Choose a location (10pts)

Where is this Farm? Country (describe the country and city from an economic perspective) Ex: Charleston SC US is a first world location. Expand on what first world means to economy and health. MAKE A SLIDE FOR THIS AND ANOTHER WITH A MAP OF WHERE IT IS.

Why did you choose this location? Give the latitude and longitude and personal reasons.

Describe the soil that is found here and if you need to amend it in anyway. Ex: Mostly clay which means we aerate. Or Sandy loam etc which means WHAT?…..MAKE A SLIDE FOR THIS

Part two- Feeding 100 people for 1 year (40 pts)

We are feeding humans. We need certain vitamins, minerals, carbs, sugars, fats, and proteins. List the essentials for a healthy diet of a human. This must include calories per day. MAKE A SIMPLE SLIDE FOR THIS

When do our plants need to reaped and sowed?

What type of maintenance do our plants need? (water, fertilizers….)

Part threeDon’t include this in the presentation- Print out separate sheet and hand in before you present. Break down the nutrition for each crop (20pts)

Ex: Oranges are a great source of sugar and vitamin c. They yield (x) calories per orange or per ounce therefore we need (x) oranges –How many acres will yield the (x) oranges we need?

How many acres will we use based on the harvest yield and amount needed to feed these 100?

You would be allowed to store yields and re use land

This part will be extensive! Lots of calculations

Part four Uh oh my crop is in danger (20pts)

You will need to choose a pest, fungus, virus etc that invades your crops. You will need to explain your methods for eradicating this. You can just choose one crop. Not all crops will be affected. MAKE A SLIDE FOR THIS

Explain why you chose your method and give other possible methods that could have been used. BE THOUROUGH I COULD ASK YOU QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS.

Part five( 10 pts)Presentation These are style points and will separate 100’s from 93’s. You and your partner will present your farm to the class. You will choose what media you would like. Power pt, video, posters etc. You will be addressing the above in your presentation.
