Part-time Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I am a lady in my forties living in the rural area of Llanerfyl, Welshpool, with my elderly mother. I have profound visual loss and have a condition called Bardet-Biedl Syndrome. This condition affects my physical health and I need to exercise to stabilise my condition, regulate my diet and look after myself. My eyesight is extremely poor, though I have adapted well over the years, in order to carry out daily living skills. I also use braille and emails. I am extremely sociable and enjoy the company of others.

PURPOSE OF JOB

I receive Direct Payments to employ person(s) to assist for this support.

The work would be varied and would consist of assisting with activities and interests.This work would be on a1-1basis, to develop myindependent living skills, accessing meaningful occupation and developing my presence within the local and wider community.

Duties would include accompanying mein accessing the community, based from the family home.Use of your own vehicleduring working hours, going out in the car, accessing the community and doing supported activities.

HOURS OF WORK

4 hours per week, mainly weekdays, though mostly not Thursdays, plus some occasionalevening and weekend work. These can be arranged by mutual agreement and vary to suit both.

RATE OF PAY

£9.30 per hour

There is also a mileage allowance for distances driven within hours of work @30p per mile subject to a limit.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. I will be your employer. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid at regular intervals on return of a payslip provided by Compass Independent Living Payroll Services. A formal Contract of Employment will be provided.References will be required.

TASKS INVOLVED

  • Workingon a 1 – 1 basis.
  • Assistance with social interaction.
  • Support with shopping.
  • Assisting to carry out hobbies and pastimes, for example walking, swimming, going to the gym etc.
  • Accompanying me to various places recreationally, concerts, meals out, coffee etc.
  • Assistance with healthy eating.
  • Support in community based activities.
  • Assistance with daily living skills.
  • Trips and excursions, for example the beach, local attractions etc.
  • Other reasonable tasks required during the hours.
