PART-TIME GRANT WRITER JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours: Independent contractor, part time, 20 hours per week

Validation Training Institute (VTI) is a 501c3 that was founded in 1983 by Naomi Feil, developer of the Validation Method. The Institute serves to raise awareness of the Validation Method and expand the community of caregivers trained in Validation.Validation is a method of communicating with and helping persons with dementia. It is a practical way of working that helps reduce stress, enhance dignity and increase happiness. Validation is built on an empathetic attitude and a holistic view of individuals. Over the past 25 years, VTI has created and delivered training programs in 23 countries, published 4 books in 12 languages, created films, and built an international network of affiliated organizations. There are over 350 certified Validation teachers and a growing number of Master teachers to mentor and support them. Still, the demand for Validation teachers continues to grow, and as an institute we strive to equip as many professional and family caregivers as possible with the tools to effectively practice Validation. The VTI Board developed a 5-year strategic plan to guide this expansion process.

Validation Training Institute (VTI) seeks a remote, part-time grant writer to identify prospective funding sources, develop proposal materials, and submit proposals to foundations and corporations to build a diverse funding base that will allow us to expand the Institute’s professional staff and operations.

The grant writer's specific activities include:

●Compile information through interviews and other methods to capture the mission and vision of VTI in all written materials.

●Perform prospect research to create a pipeline of potential funding sources for VTI.

●Conduct outreach to prospective institutional funders by email and phone to assess alignment between foundation priorities and VTI mission.

●Coordinate, write, edit, and submit all letters of intent, grant proposals, and grant reports in accordance with foundation guidelines.

●Develop and maintain grants calendar of grant proposal and reporting deadlines.

●Perform other fundraising and grant writing duties as required.

Requirements:

●A Bachelor's degree in a related field

●3-5 years of experience as a professional grant writer in the healthcare or elderly care field

●Successful track record of developing grant proposals to foundations and corporations Excellent oral and written communication skills

●Strong organizational and time management skills

●Must be able to work independently and collaboratively

●Must be able to work in a deadline driven environment

●Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Docs required

This is a 20 hours per week, freelance position, with an annual fee of $25,000.
