Ryan shared experience from recent Safety in AA Workshop and highlighted the new General Service Office Service Material, ‘Safety and A.A.: Our Common Welfare’. The group then broke into roundtables to discuss their experience with Safety in AA and ways they can carry the message about Safety to their groups.

Ideas shared included:

  • Avoid shaming someone on a public level, speak one-on-one or have a commitment for a member of the group to discuss any concerns with the person after the meeting.
  • Take responsibility for singleness purpose, but do not make newcomers and ‘addicts’ feel bad
  • Role of Secretary’s –Outlining the role and processes can help make things that arise less personal and reflect the group’s conscience on how to respond.
  • Cell phone - anonymity (Kevin suggested jamming devices to avoid ;))
  • Singleness of purpose announcement that is not part of regular leader format language
  • 6G Group identified a man who has been causing problems across the Sub District and various approaches used to handle this member.
  • Have numbers and names of shelters available for people that attend and may need help
