Part of an email from one of Thomas’ decendants regarding the Williams Line

When Abner's brother (Thomas Williams son) who remained in Hopkins, died , his father was listed as T. Williams. It is confirmed he was born in virginia and arrive in Hopkins by 1812. His first two or three son's were born in Virginia. Most of the earlier settlier in Hopkins came from war land grants given. I believe from Morman church records that Thomas williams parents were John Williams and Edith Nottingham, but there is confusion there. Dad always stated they were from early Quaker roots and strong virginia family lines.
I believe after Edith Nottingham died and her husband remarried, the younger brothers went with the younger group going to greener chances in Kentucky.

Towards the end of the century a John Williams became the owner of the whole tract N24, which contains "Millford," in some unexplained manner. Then in 1801 Peter Bowdoin, then owner of N25, sold Williams a mill property of 2 acres on the branch. In 1805 the will of John Williams, wife Margaret, directed that mill and land were to be divided among his youngest children: Benjamin, Thomas and James, when Benjamin became of age. Then in 1816 a survey for division showed 382 acres.4John made a will on 10 December 1804 at Northampton Co, VA. It is my will that six hundred pounds which I agreed to give to my son John Williams should be paid out of my estate and when paid it is then my true will and meaning that my son John Williams never should inherit no more of my estate nor his heirs forever. It is my will and desire that my son William Williams should inherit and enjoy all the lands in my upward plantation provided my son William pays to my daughters or their heirs the just and full sum of three hundred pounds. To my son Samuel S. Williams the just and full sum of six hundred pounds. It is my will and desire that the plantation and mill where I now live should be kept during the widow hood of my wife with as many of my Negroes as my executor thinks best for the benefit of my estate for the support and bringing up of my six youngest children till they come of age or marry. And further it is my will and desire that the plantation and mill whereon I live should be equally divided between my three youngest sons Benjamin, Thomas and James Williams when Benjamin comes to age. My will and desire is that all my Negroes should be equally divided between my six youngest children; Sarah, Margaret, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Thomas and James. I do hereby ordain my son William Williams my sole executor. Signed, John Williams. Witnesses: John Goffigon, John Nottingham and Benjamin Scott.5He died before 9 April 1805 at Northampton Co, VA.
