Planning10 – Unit 2 - Finance

Car Buying Comparison

Compare different cars and all of the costs associated with them. One must be a lease purchase, and the other must be a financed purchase (either a loan, dealer financing, or straight cash). Where and how you find them is entirely up to you.

Part A: For the “You” after high school

Compare TWO cars, and include all of the information above.

You must also include a short paragraph detailing what you imagine your life after high school to be like (will you be working full-time, part-time, will you be attending post-secondary, where do you see yourself living, etc.)

Part B: For the “You” in Planning 10

Compare TWO different cars, and include all of the information in first paragraph.

You must include a short paragraph detailing what you imagine your lifestyle to be as the career that you were given/chose.

For each part, you must include the following:

  1. The filled out tables below
  2. A calculation of how much you can afford within your budget to pay for a vehicle
  3. A copy/printout of the cost of the lease purchase. This must include how much you would pay per month, the number of months the lease is valid, what the end purchase price would be, and the kilometer limitations (if any) exist.
  4. A copy or printout of the car loan agreement. This must include how much you would pay per month, the length of the car loan, the interest rate for the loan, and how many payments you would be required to make.
  5. Your final car purchase decision (between the options that you have found)
  6. Include a picture of your car
  7. Your plan on how you will pay for this car
  8. Why you chose this car over the other options
  9. Each part will have a final car purchase – one for the “You” after high school, and another one for the “You” in Planning 10
