Program Coordinator of EL CENTRO LATINO

Job Summary:

The El Centro Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordinator of the El Centro Latino, monitoring the budget, coordinating programs and events, publicity, and implementing day-to-day activities. The coordinator is responsible to the Office of Student Programs, and other constituents as a representative of the Programs. The Student Program Coordinator represents and advocates on behalf of Latinostudents, promotes its culture and events, and furthers inclusion.

El Centro Latino Program Mission:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Increase Visibility

  • Actively promote the program through venues such as publicity, advertisements and participation in BC events
  • Create and adapt programming promoting and furthering the mission of the program. This programming should be appealing, relevant, and successfully drawing membership all portions of the Latino community. They can include speakers, special events, workshops, lecture, discussion groups and more
  • Establish and coordinate promotion and publicity necessary for effective programming

Create Program Infrastructure

  • Create program resources like newsletter, blog, email listserv and more
  • Work to recruit volunteers for the program.
  • Work with the Advisory Board to assess and define and develop the Program.

Program Management

  • Develop the annual budget for the Program and submit for approval according to guidelines established by the Student Services and Activities Fee Committee

Other

  • Maintain a good working relationship with ASG, Clubs and Programs and other agencies
  • Attend the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council meetings in order to foster better communication, coalition, and coordination with other constituents. Act as representative and advocate the issues and concerns of Latino students on campus and in the community
  • Maintain 15 hours per week work schedule
  • Attend Camp Casey Leadership Camp June 21-24, 2016
  • Attend summer training in July, 2016

Position: Student Program Coordinator

Salary: $12/hour (Maximum 15 hours/week 47 weeks /year)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applications must meet the minimum qualifications to apply.

  • Candidates must have a minimum 2.7 cumulative BC GPA or 2.7 quarterly BC GPA for the two previous consecutive quarters. The GPA will default to whichever is highest.
  • Candidates must maintain a minimum quarterly GPA of 2.7 if hired.
  • Candidates must maintain a minimum of 5 credits per quarter if hired

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with and awareness of issues and concerns of Latino students on campus and in the community
  • Demonstrated experience creating a welcoming, open environment and supervising other
  • Ability to develop and adhere to a budget and maintain records
  • Ability to communicate clearly with students, administrators and faculty
  • Awareness of resources, both on-campus and off campus
  • Previous experience promoting events and resources to a target audience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in planning, coordinating and implementing cultural and education programs/services
