HEALTH & LEISURE WALKS

All welcome to guided, free, sociable, HDC walks led by trained volunteers; no need to book, just turn-up at the start point. A booklet containing over 250 walks is available from the Walks Co-ordinator on 07720 714306or online at are recommended to contact the Walk Leader to discuss suitability. All walks can be wet and muddy in places. Forthcoming walks in the Shipley Parish and neighbouring areas are as follows:-

(1013) Every Thursday, 11:00am: Billingshurst (1) A 2 ¼mile flat walk Very suitable for beginners, the elderly and people recovering from illness, operation or accident. 1 hour. Stay for coffee afterwards, May be muddy, please wear suitable footwear. Free disk parking for two hours (disk available from the Library at 50p) or free from the Leisure Centre. (2254)) Sat 8 October 10:30am:New WalkSumners Pond (3) Park opposite the Barn (RH13 0PR, TQ124268). From Horsham pass through Barns Green village. Turn right a short distance after the Green passing The Queens Head pub on the left. Signposted Sumners Ponds, Fishery and Campsite. A lovely 4 mile walk, taking 2 hours, around a working farm, through beautiful woodland and peaceful meadows, some gates and stiles. Can be muddy in places after rain. No dogs as Livestock. (2040) Sat 8 October 2:00pm: Thakeham. A 3 mile circular walk, few stiles, around this lovely village and across farmland towards Goose Green. Meet at Thakeham Church car park(TQ 110173). Dogs welcome. Refreshments provided. 1½ hours. Leader Mick 01903 745971

(1009) Fri 14 & 28 October 11:00am: Southwater (1) A 2½ mile flat circular walk along bridleways, country lanes and the Downs Link.. Meet in the Country Park car park (off Cripplegate Lane) RH13 7UN TQ 161258. Car Park charge 50p. Not suitable for wheelchairs, buggies and prams, can be muddy. Dogs allowed on a lead. 1¼ hours.
