February SIT notes
Athletic Program
Mr. Smith went over the board policy and we must adhere to it. The staff will receive an emailed copy of the policy. Eligibility to try out and play on a sports team is based on the previous semester grades. 2 F’s or below a 77% average for all classes makes the student ineligible. Final eligibility lies with Bob Shaw. Please CC Bob on emails to coaches with your concerns about an athlete. Grade checks are done on an individual basis instead of using forms.
Parental Contact with the Principal
Counselors always ask the parent if they have spoken to the teacher yet. Mr. Smith tells parents at the beginning of the year in his presentation to contact the student’s teacher first. Mr. Smith fields more elevated circumstances rather than sending them directly to the teacher. Parents often go to the principal or counselor first in fear their child will have repercussions on them from the teacher.
Best Practice: Be aware of how you act towards the student, directly or indirectly, after parent contact.
Report Card Copies
Mr. Smith will look at the policy for report cards. We use the white copies to try to verify that the parent has seen the report card.
Follow through with discipline and dress code
Some teachers have said that they simply don’t and won’t check for dress code. We, as a team, need to have complete consistency with all the teachers to follow the dress code and be vigilant about it. Send them to Mr. Berry or Mr. Flore if you see a violation.
NOBLE UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS
- Polo type shirts (buttoned appropriately)
- Noble t-shirts or sweatshirts (no hoods worn in the building)
- Knee length or longer, pants, skirts or shorts
- Jeans are allowed.
- Pants, skirts, or shorts must be worn at the waist, no undergarments showing.
- Pants, skirts, and shorts may not have any holes.
- Athletic shorts, sweat pants, tights, or spandex type pants or shorts are not allowed.
- Outerwear - Jackets, sweatshirts, or sweaters. All outerwear, with the exception of Noble sweatshirts, should be removed inside upon request.
Use the ABE system! Teachers need to document incidents so administration has the backup they need to come down harder on a student. Make administration aware directly that you are having trouble with a certain student.
Hallways in the Morning
Please remind students that if they are in the hallway when the pledge and moment of silence happen that they need to be respectful and stop walking and talking to pause for this. It only takes a few seconds.
Eagle Society
Eligibility is based on 3 things this year. They are Character, Citizenship, and Attendance. This criteria is stated in the student planner. Staff will be asked to complete eligibility form when the list is made. If student do not meet the character standards then they will not be in Eagle Society.
