Parent -Watch in all classes this coming week, February 7, 8 & 9, 2017

Important Dates for Everyone:

February 7-9: Dance and Tumbling

February 8 from 7:45-9pm: “What the world needs now” rehearsal with all seniors and all youth parts.

February 14-16: Dance and Tumbling: Valentine Parties in all classes.

February 15 from 7:45-9pm: Review of all speaking parts and run through of Act 1 with all seniors and all youth parts.

Week of February 21-23, 2017: No classes for February Break.

February 28 and March 1 and 2: Dance and Tumbling

March 1 from 6:30-7:45pm: Cast photos and Cast group shot.

March 1 from 7:45-9pm: First run through of Act 2 with all seniors and all youth that are in Act 2.

March 7-9: Dance and Tumbling

March 14-15: Dance and Tumbling

Week of March 21-23, 2017: No classes…just time off!

March 28-30: Dance and Tumbling

April 4-6: Dance and Tumbling: Studio Photographs

April 8, 2017: Ticket Day

April 11-13: Dance and Tumbling

Week of April 18-20, 2017: No classes for Easter/Spring Break.

April 25-27: Dance and Tumbling

May 2-4: Last week of classes, Awards Week.

May 8 from 4-6pm: Finale rehearsal and tumbling rehearsal at C-Pac

May 10 from 4-8pm: Full dress rehearsal at C-Pac

May 12, 2017: Recital #1 @ 7pm, C-Pac

May 13, 2017: Recital #2 @7pm, C-Pac

May 14, 2017: Recital #3 @ 2pm, C-Pac: Happy Mother’s Day!

Valentine Parties the week of February 14, 15 & 16, 2017:

We will have Valentine parties in all of our classes the last 10 minutes of each class. You can bring V-Cards in for your child’s classmates at this time. Please only mark who they are from and do not put individual children’s names on the envelopes because it takes too long to pass them all out. As long as the kids know who they are getting them from, they will be happy with that. We will need help from you parents to pass out these cards so if you are willing to help please join us for the party. Below is a list of all the classes and how many students are in each class. Thanks for helping us make Valentines fun for our students!

Lottery:

We will have a lottery this week during parent watch. This will let all of you know what time you will be able to purchase your recital tickets on” ticket day”, Saturday, April 8, 2017. Each student will be allowed to purchase 12 at $10 per ticket at “ticket day” for the recital. After ticket day, tickets will be $12 in advance and $15 at the door. (Tickets are only $10 on ticket day). We will explain how this will work during Parent-Watch.

NOTE: Every student’s bill must be paid in full by Ticket Day and there will not be any exceptions so please…. do not ask Deana for any special favors; it just is not fair to the rest of our Academy.

Studio Photos:

Studio photos will take place on April 4-6, 2017 during our regularly scheduled classes. We will have more on this in our March Newsletter. Please make sure you have all of your required tights and shoes during the month of March so that you are all prepared for Studio Photos. I will not be placing any orders after April 15th and if I do so there will be a $10 surcharge to every order that is placed as I will have to express order them. Please….make sure you have everything you need in advance!

March 1, 2017 Senior/Youth Photos and Cast Photo:

We will be taking our group photo for our Recital Ticket on Wednesday, March 1 from 6:30-7:45pm. All of our seniors will take their individual character picture in full make up and costume first. Then all of our youth characters will take a group picture in full makeup and costume. Then we will take an entire cast photo at 7:30pm. We need to be done with pictures by 7:45pm to begin our senior practice. EVERYONE needs to be at this photo session so that I can order my recital tickets for tickets day. You will then take senior individual shots on April 5th from 7:15-7:45pm. This will be your senior picture to go with your character picture at recital. My youth characters will take a regular group photo (not in character) on this night as well. Please make sure you put these dates in your calendar. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

March 8th, 2017 dancing at Caribou High School:

For all four Troupe classes and Company: You are all scheduled to dance at the senior games at CHS on Thursday, March 8th in between the two half times. Petite, Tiny and Mini will dance during the Girls half-time and Troupe and Company will dance during the Boys half-time. We would like Petite, Tiny and Mini to do the Finale with Troupe and Company during the Boys half-time as well. Petite Troupe will be performing “Me too” in full costume, Tiny Troupe will be performing “Dance like yo’ Daddy” in full costume, Mini Troupe will be performing “I’ve got a Dream” in full costume, Troupe will perform “My House”, Company will perform “Sounds of Silence” which will be immediately followed by our two Finales of “Can’t stop the Feeling” and “Faith”. We will have your Hercules T-shirts for you the week of this performance so everyone will need solid black pants to go with your Hercules t-shirts…this includes Petite, Tiny and Mini as this is what you will wear to dance with Troupe and Company during Finale. Petite, Tiny and Mini will perform at the first game which should be around 6:00 and Troupe and Company will perform at the 2nd game around 7:30pm. We will update you with information in our March Newsletter. This is a dance night for Clarann and I so we will be running back and forth to accomplish this while the rest of you will just meet us there. All seniors will perform their parts during each song….you will just wear your t-shirt and your black pants for your parts.

Pointe Shoes:

Just a reminder….If you have not ordered you new Pointe shoes or ballet shoes for pictures and recital then do so this week. They need to be ordered before I leave…..this month.

A Special Note from Miss Danielle concerning Private Lessons:

Please schedule your private lesson and music cutting requests directly with Miss Danielle ASAP. She will be taking a limited number of students this pageant season. ALL lessons will be taught on Saturday mornings. Cost is $30 per half hour and $45 for 45 minutes. Music cutting will be $25 with 2 CD copies. Music that is already cut can be provided on CD for $5. If you have your own cut of a song you will need to provide this on a cd copy to Miss Danielle one week prior to your first lesson. All lessons are to be paid at the time of the lesson. No lesson fees will be added to your TMDA accounts. Checks are to be made out to The Maine Dance Academy.

Miss Danielle is available for talent choreography, tumbling lessons, and lessons to catch up on TMDA choreography if needed. Miss Danielle reserves the right to cancel due to inclement weather this winter season. She will either message or personally call you. If you need to cancel a lesson that has been booked for any other reason please give her at least 24 hours’ notice. If 24 hour notice is not given- then you will be charged for the lesson time.

It is the student's responsibility to know the choreography that has been taught. Miss Danielle does not practice your choreography and cannot clean and critique your dance if you do not come to your lessons prepared. The number of lessons to complete a routine can be minimized with at home practice! All choreography will be sent on Dropbox unless you wish to record it on your own device.

Tumbling Leotards:

We have tumbling leotards and shorts in each size at the studio. We need you to look at these leotards and make sure you give us the size you want by parent-watch on Thursday. If you do not give us your size by this night then we will go by your costume size or if you are only a tumbler, your t-shirt size. It is imperative that we have the correct sizes on all of you this week. Please do not email me with any changes after this Thursday, February 9th.

That is it for February!! This is quite a month with plenty to do but it is also a happy month so do something special for your loved ones on the 14th…..not that we need a day to do something special but everyone deserves a little surprise every now and again!!!
