Dear Parents and Students,
The 11th grade is a crucial year for parents and students alike, and I am happy to be one of your teachers here at Knightdale High School. The 11th grade English curriculum focuses on developing a variety of reading, writing, and speaking skills. We will relate our readings to our own lives through discussions, journals, and projects. Over the course of the semester we will read novels, as well as a variety of short stories, poems, speeches, and essays by famous (and some not-so-famous) authors. As you may have heard we are re-evaluating the new national standards: the Common Core. We will still be implementing this for the 2014-2015 school year. If you are interested in learning more information about these new standards it can be found at:
Each student will be prepared for both the North Carolina Final Exams (NCFE) and the ACT which are tests that all 11th graders will take at school. More information about the NCFEs can be found at: and more information about the ACT can be found at: Each student will have his/her own file folder in the classroom with all of the work they have completed in the course. This folder should be used to study for the NCFE at the end of the semester. If a student is ever absent from my class they should either email me to request work or see me as soon as they return.
