Parent Dragon Connection – October 16, 2016:
•Please stay current with your child’s fees, cafeteria charges, and digital repair fees. Students that owe more than $50 will not be able to participate in extra-curricular activities.
•The SMS PTA is asking all parents to join them in supporting the school and their students. The PTA sponsors student dances, the Variety Show, and all Teacher Appreciation events. They also provide grants to teachers for special projects. Your $10 membership goes a long way for the PTA to provide all of this support. Please print off the PTA form from the website or have your student pick one up at the main office. The homeroom with the most PTA member parents will win a party of their choice.
•The book fair is coming to SMS on November 4th – 8th.
•Fall pictures will be taken on October 25th.
•Step team practice is Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00-4:30.
•The Ballroom Dance Club will meet on Tuesday from 3:00-3:45.
•There will be Speech/Debate practice on Tuesday afternoon until 4:00.
•The Cross Country team will practice on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday until 4:30. The championship meet has been changed to Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Elks Club.
•Royals Rehearsal will be on Tuesday from 3-4:00. All County Chorus concert will be at Pinecrest High School on Thursday, October 20th. Concert starts in the auditorium at 5:30pm and will end around 6:15pm.
•The Pay It Forward club will begin the Keep Moore Beautiful telephone book recycling contest on Monday, October 17th. Any old telephone books will be collected. The school with the most telephone books collected will win $300 towards school beautification. Please help SMS by sending in your old telephone books! The next club meeting will be on Wednesday, October 19th.
•Drama Club will meet on Tuesday (6th and 8th grades only) and Thursday (7th and 8th grades only.)
•Chess Club will begin on Oct. 18 in Mr. Sherrard’s room from 3-4:00. No experience needed.
•Softball and tennis play at home on Monday at 4:00 and at West Lee on Thursday at 4:00.
•Football will be away at New Century on Wednesday at 4:00.
•Golf match will be held at Pinehurst #6 on Tuesday at 4:00.
•Students that are staying after school for a game must have $2 – they will come to the cafeteria at dismissal and walk to the field as a group. Students may not leave campus and return without an adult.
•There will be a basketball open gym for boys in grades 6-8 on Friday, Oct. 21 from 3-4:30.
•Wrestling tryouts for grades 6-8 will begin Nov. 2. More information to come soon.
