2.Considering the points of departure between you and the scholar with which you disagree, construct a thesis statement that clearly states your argument for this paper.
3.List the main aspects of your paper that will be your focus. These will become your sub claims.Underneath each sub claim, list and analyze the evidence that you will use to support your claim. This analysis should be in the form of multiple sentences/paragraphs (for each element) that analyze how the evidence proves your thesis and why it is significant. You should have multiple elements of evidence to support each claim.Your job is to mine your short story or play to find that evidence.Remember your rhetorical analysis skills; how to the smaller parts of the text help make meaning? If you give this task the proper attention, you will have most of the analysis that you need for this paper.
4.Create a Thesis Statement-Topic SentenceOutline, thatsketches out the organization of your paper.
-Make sure that you include clear critical topic sentences.
-Make sure that you also include the evidence that you will use to prove your claims.
-In this outline, you need to make it clear, through bullets or phrases, how you will use analysis to fortify your position. In your final paper, you need to make sure that you include analysis of why your position is valid. For example, it is not enough to just claim that Affirmative Action lowers the academic standards for college and universities.Your analysis should explore the implications of these lower standards for institutions, financially and educationally, perhaps. What is the impact of these lower standards on the minority students who are allowed in and the non minority students who are allowed in?You need to push your ideas further.
