Dear PVPHS Parents and Community Stakeholders:
In an effort to comply with the regulations set forth within the Education code related to the School Improvement Program, it is necessary to establish an English Language Advisory Committee. This is to be done whenever a school has twenty-one or more “English Language Learners” (ELL) students. The English Language Advisory Committee shall include the principal, representatives of the teachers, and ELL parents representing at least the same percentages as there are ELL students in the school.
The primary function of the English Language Advisory Committee is to recommend to the School Site Advisory Council plan for English Language Learners’ education for the school. Further, the committee will have an ongoing responsibility to review the English Language Learners’ component of the School Improvement Plan and, if necessary, recommend modifications in the plan to reflect changing needs and priorities.
Nominations are now being taken to fill the positions for the establishment of such a committee.
We would like to encourage representation from all stakeholders in the PVPHS community. If you have an interest in serving in such a capacity, or are aware of someone who might like to accept the responsibility of such a position, please write the name(s) in the space(s) provided below. Nomination forms are to be returned to the Main Office, or P105, by Friday,September15, 2016. An election will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017.
Nominees will be contacted prior to the names being placed on the ballot. ELAC election ballots will be sent home with all students enrolled in ELD Monday, September 18 and also available in the Main Office September 18 through September 25. Ballots must be returned to the Main Office, or room P105 by Monday, September 25.
