PAIMAN M&E and Operational Research Thematic Group Meeting:

PAIMAN M&E and OR Thematic Group Meeting was held at Population Council office Islamabad, on 1, Feb-2010, to review the PAIMAN end line evaluations, ongoing operations research studies and to get feedback of partners on end line household questionnaire. PAIMAN partners including JSI, SCUS, JHU-CCP and Contech International participated. Dr Zeba Sathar, Country Director, Population Council, welcomed the participants and explained the backdrop and objectives of the meeting. Visiting scholar, Dr. Anrudh Jain presented the overall scheme of end line evaluations. He described various PAIMAN inputs and gave an illustration of various factors involved in promoting skilled birth attendance. Preliminary findings of quantitative and qualitative research under CMW study were presented by PC. Partners updated on their ongoing, completed or upcoming evaluations. Dr Nabeela Ali, COP PAIMAN, praised the efforts of Population Council in designing end line evaluation. She termed the findings of OR study very informative. She suggested that PC, JSI and Contech should join to see the impact of PAIMAN at Heath Facility level.

Coordination at District Level

District Coordination Meeting for district Vehari was held on 10,Feb-2010 Dr. Mohammed Jamil EDO-health, Vehari, PAIMAN partners and sub grantee NGOs participated in the meeting. Dr. Shuaib Khan Director Program & Grants, JSI-PAIMAN and FOM Punjab (South) also attended. DPC-Vehari JSI facilitated the meeting. Dr. Shuaib Khan acknowledged the role of sub grantees and provided information about various activities.

Rural Emergency Services of Ambulance Initiative-RESAI

Ceremony of handing over of RESAI Ambulances to Health Department of District Vehari was organized on 10 Feb, 2010 at DHQ Hospital District Vehari. The ceremony was chaired by Mrs. Tehmina Daultana Member National Assembly- Vehari and Mr. Imran Daultana. The ceremony was attended by the EDO (H) Vehari, Dr. Shuaib Khan Director Program & Grants-JSI/PAIMAN, National Manager Private Sector Initiative, FOM South Punjab, Regional Coordinator SCUS, DPC-JSI, Vehari along with other dignitaries of the district. The DHO promised his professional support for the successful implementation of the RESAI intervention.

Bridging the Gap through Partnership Defined Quality (PDQ)

Quality Improvement Team (QIT) at THQ Gujjar Khan met on 10,Feb-2010. 05 males and 02 female members participated. The matter of location of Admin office was discussed that is located next to Labor room. Community and facility staff emphasized to change the location of admin office. THQ representatives decided to solve this problem as early as possible. Follow up meeting with quality improvement team in BHU Pail Mirza-Jhelum was held on 9,Feb 2010 in which task for Maintenance of Hospital Entrance was discussed. QI team at RHC Winder met on 9,Feb 2010 and informed that issue of non-availability of vaccinator and motorbike for vaccination outreach activities has been resolved. The district health department provided 01 vaccinator and 01 motorbike for RHC Winder. The QI team met with General Manger, Siddique & Sons Industries Winder .He provided 02 ceiling fans and repaired the refrigerator to maintain cold chain for vaccinations at RHC Winder-Lasbela. Mr. Dewan Rizwan Chairman of the Ship Breaking Association donated essential medicines of one lac Rs. to Dr. Younas Baloch (QIT member) for RHC Gaddani-Lasbela. QIT at BHU Kali Matti met on 2-Feb 2010, to review the contribution and time frame for completion of lab facility and to solve the issue of driver.

Sensitization Events

Five local sensitization event were organized. On 13-Feb-2010, at Khanewal. EDO health was the chief guest, all district health officials and PAIMAN partners along with 425 participants attended the event. On 11-Feb-2010 at RHC Ludden-Vehari. 253 males and 179 female community members attended the event. Local Event on “Welcome Community Volunteers” was held on 10 Feb, 2010 at RHC Kandhra District Sukkur. 557 persons attended along with partners and stakeholders. On the same theme an event was organized at RHC Pasni on 10-Feb-2010. Chief guest was DDO Education, event was attended by 354 males and females including PPIU representatives, JSI, SCUS and govt. officials. On 13-Feb, 2010 event was held at Khanewal. EDO-R was the chief guest and all district health officials and PAIMAN partners along with 425 participants attended this event.

Child Health

IYCF training was conducted at Multan from 1-5,Feb-2010, 25 participants were trained from district Vehari, DG Khan, Khanewal & Multan; IMNCI training was conducted at Children Hospital PIMS Islamabad for NWFP from 8-19, Feb-2010, 24 participants trained from Upper Dir, Buner & Mardan; Follow-up, Monitoring & assessment of 30 CIMNCI Trained LHWs was done in the BHU Hazar Khani and IDCH (Infectious disease hospital Peshawar).

District annual operational plans (DAOP) for year 2010-2011

During 8-12 Feb district managers of Sudhnoti, Vihari, Peshawar, Multan, Mardan and D.G.Khan were facilitate in the preparation of District Annual Operational Plan for 2010-2011. Hands-on support on HealthPlan® software was provided to district managers. Refresher training of health care providers in Implementation of DHIS for un-trained heath facility staff were supported and completed in district D.G. Khan. Hands on support on target setting for DHIS was also provided in district Lasbela where a meeting was convened with EDO Health and district officials to carry out the exercise.

Female Matriculation Graduate Program

To facilitate the females from underserved districts to fulfill the criteria of enrollment as CMWs under Pakistan Nursing Council’s for 18 months CMW training. Academic training and examination for females was organized by PAIMAN with the Technical Assistance of ITA. The selected students from Charssadda cleared their exams by attaining more then 55% marks in matriculation examination. The minimum requirement of PNC is 45%.

Health Camps

On 11-Feb-2010, health camp was organized in district Vehari attended by 461 patients. Dr. Shuaib Khan Director Programs & Grants, National Manager for Private Health Initiatives & FOM Punjab (S) visited the Health Camp. Member National Assembly Mr. Azeem Daultana visited the free Health Camp. They appreciated and thanked PAIMAN. Mega event was also arranged by SCUS in the premises of the RHC at a distant place from Hospital building. On the same day health camp was organized at Sudhnoti attended by 281 patients. DPC Sudhnoti and FOM personally monitored the activities of the camp. Dr.Amal DPC SCUS Provincial Manager SCUS PAIMAN also visited. Sub grantees also fully participated in the camp and disseminated MNH messages.
