1. CourseDescription

This course focuses on fundamentals of ERP with emphasis on SAP Sales and Distribution and SAP Materials Management Modules.

There are multiple software suites that can help companies maximize efficiencies in their supply chain. There are specific software packages that can be implemented only for purchasing or planning, or only for customer relationship management. But an ERP like SAP can be implemented across the company incorporating all aspects of the enterprise. And currently is it the market leader in Enterprise resource planning softwares.

SAP is designed to support and integrate almost every functional area of a business process such as Procurement, sale and distribution, finance and controlling, manufacturing etc.

SAP SD and MM are two of the biggest modules in SAP. We will have these modules under our purview in this course.

SAP Materials Management (MM) is an important part of Logistics area and helps in managing purchasing, external services management, Inventory Management, Logistic invoice verification.

SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) is another vital module which covers sales, shipping and transportation, billing and reporting.

All of the above topics will be touched upon briefly in this course.

2. Student Learning Outcomes (typically 3-5 bullet points)

On completion of the course participants will be able to:

  • Understandconcepts in MMprocure to pay process, master data, Materials and Service procurement, special procurement processes, Goods receipt, Goods issue and inventory.
  • Understand concepts inSD processes such as SD Pricing, Delivery Processing and Billing, Basic Billing procedure, FSCM and Credit management.
  • Be able to carryout basic configuration for SAP SD and MM on the system.
  • Be able to run simple transactions on SAP to complete standard SD/MM cycles.

6. Academic Integrity

Broad Course Guidelines

Students are expected to complete the requested pre-reads for each of the lecture sessions so you can have maximum benefit from the lectures. Students are responsible for all of the materials covered in class and in the textbook. Students are free to meet the instructor in connection with homework assignments and to clarify any concepts from the lecture, with appointment.

Assignments Submissions

All homework/group assignment topics will be on the Course Web/AIS. Assignment submissions are due at the beginning of class. Late work will not be accepted. All assignments must contain the following information on the cover page: Course name; Assignment number; Group number; Group members’ names and roll numbers, and the Due date.

Course Conduct

You will not indulge in any disruptive activities during the class lecture and discussions/presentations. If we discover any such activity, you will lose attendance and will be asked to leave the classroom. Students not attending classes are responsible for the class coverage and announcements. Mobile phones are not allowed inside the class room. Laptops may be brought to the class when instructed to do so (for the specific class/es). Adopting unfair means or mal-practice/s, or plagiarism in any form will make you eligible to get an F grade in the entire course.

Group Presentations and Reports

Based on the topics covered in the class, there will be an ongoing business case which will be worked upon after every lecture. The progress of the business case should be submitted at the beginning of subsequent class. There will be one rolling presentation which should summarize your team’s work for the previous lecture and this should be presented after every 4th class. The basic process also should be executed on the system for the case presented.

Clear understanding of the concepts will be looked for in these presentations. Plagiarism will be looked down upon.

Class Participation

Being interactive in class and contributing to the learning process would be appreciated. This will be possible only if pre reads are diligently.

Course Transparency

Answers to the quiz will be announced either via mail or in subsequent class. Any discrepancy can be brought to the notice of the instructor.

After evaluation of the End Term and publication of the grades, the End Term answer scripts will be available with concerned personnel. A notice will also be put up to this effect. Any discrepancy observed should be reported to your instructor, through the Dean (Acad)’s office using the ‘application form for re-evaluation’. Either way, all issues of concern brought to the notice of the instructor will be duly addressed.
