Basic Class Information

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This 5-day workshop combines an understanding of air filtration theory, adsorption theory, and radioiodine testing with extensive hands-on work of airflow measurements and in-place testing of particulate (HEPA) filters and carbon adsorbers. All aspects of in-place testing are discussed along with a review of current NRC regulations pertaining to Nuclear Air and Gas Treatment Systems.
This workshop will consist of classroom discussions on practical requirements followed by extensive hands-on application including instrument set up and step-by-step instruction on all aspects of in-place filter testing.
Course instructors are consultants, scientists, and test engineers who are certified to ANSI/ASME N45.2.6 and who have extensive experience at many nuclear facilities throughout the world. Along with training of proper techniques, the experience of the instructors can be invaluable in dealing with "unique" situations particular facilities may have.
Throughout the workshop an ongoing hands-on evaluation will be given to each student ensuring complete knowledge and understanding of each section covered. A written exam is given on the final day of the workshop.

COURSE OBJECTIVE
Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will have received and demonstrated working knowledge in performing ANSI/ASME N510 Testing of Nuclear Air Treatment Systems.
While this workshop will enable technicians to become more familiar with in-place testing of air treatment systems, it is very valuable for other plant personnel as well. System engineers will understand this type of testing more thoroughly and be better prepared to troubleshoot problems that occur. QA and licensing personnel will enhance their knowledge regarding the requirements of Regulatory Guides and Standards, allowing them to more effectively discuss situations with regulatory personnel.
Participants will become more effective in working with contract test personnel through a better understanding of the testing

This course may be applied toward ANSI/ASME N45.2.6 Certification. Continuing Education 3.0 Units
