INFORMATION SHEETS:

A number of forms/info sheets have been sent home with your child. Please review each one and read it carefully. Return those that need to be returned to the school as soon as possible. It is very important that we receive these sheets back in the next day or two.

Student Information Sheet: Please read carefully and make any corrections or additions to this form. It is very important that we have on file an emergency number where someone can be reached in case your child becomes sick during school hours. Also make sure that the civic number is included in your address.

Computer Acceptable Use Agreement for Students: These forms are sent home with all students. Please sign and return to the homeroom teacher.

General Media Coverage & Display or Publication of Student Information and Work: Any student who did not attend Gulf Shore last year is required to complete this form. Please read carefully, fill in the second part of the form and return it to the school.

Low Risk Indemnification Form:

This form is to provide permission for your children to participate in any school field trips. (A different form will be sent home for high risk activities, such as sports/swimming).

Email Address: Please fill in the attached sheet (pink copy) with your email address (please mark clearly if this is a new address from last year), and verify if you require a paper copy of the newsletter to be sent home with your child. Our system can only take one email address.

Meet The Staff Night:

Please mark Thursday, September 15th at 7:00 p.m. on your calendar for Meet the Staff Night. This is an introduction to the staff as well as the school day at Gulf Shore. We suggest you make childcare arrangements if possible for this evening. There will be an additional meeting for all band parents at 6:30 in the band room.

Home & School:

The first H&S meeting: Wednesday, Sept 21 at 7 PM

All are welcome and encouraged to attend any or all meetings. We need your ideas and opinions to help make Gulf Shore the best it can be.Home and School runs the milk program, lunch program and Food for Thought cupboard, as well as assisting in many other school events and activities.

Milk is sold on Tuesday mornings only and milk prices are:

White 0.45 ¢

Chocolate 0.75 ¢

The lunch program will decided later.

Band
First early morning band practice is on Tuesday, September 13th.

Students are asked to be at the school no later than 7:45 am.
First Rock Band Practice will be on Wednesday, September 21th from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
Magazine subscription sales will begin on Monday, September 12th and run until Monday, September 28th.
All Band Parents are invited to attend a band parent meeting at 6:30 in the band room on Sept 15th before "Meet the Teacher" night. Topics discussed will include fundraising initiatives, this year's band trip to Halifax as well as some changes being made to Skills evaluation. Art Lessons At Gulf Shore:
Maurice Bernard will be offering Art classes to Gulf Shore students. Every Thursday, beginning October 27th and lasting 6 weeks. The cost is $115.00, which includes taxes and supplies. To register call Maurice at (902) 436-8485 or ( 902) 432-0171.

Gulf Shore Dental Clinic:

The Dental Preventive Clinic will be atstarting atGulf ShoreSchoollate September2016.
Purpose of Dental Clinic:Screen children to assess risk of oral disease; provide oral health education, topical fluoride, scaling/polishing and sealants, according to your child’s individual needs.
Screening:All children will be seen for a two-minute screening to determine their risk of oral disease.If you do not wish your child to have this dental screening, please notify the school secretary or homeroom teacher.
Consent:After the screening, all children will be given a consent form which will be necessary for you to complete and return before services are provided.
Fees:There is no cost involved as the preventive services are covered by the Children’s Dental Care Program.
Contact:If you have any questions about the program, please contact the dental staff at the School or the Dental Public Health Clinic in Charlottetown at 902-368-4918 or Summerside 902-888-8145.
Further Information:Please note that only preventive services will be provided and the screening is not a substitute for an annual dental examination. It is strongly recommended that parents take their children to a dentist for regular examinations and treatment.

Gulf Shore Consolidated School will host Fall Meeting

Gulf Shore Consolidated School will be this Fall’s location on Tuesday, October 25th; 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. This provincial Home and School meeting is open to all parents, guardians, teachers and staff in your school. A complete registration package will be circulated to presidents.

RusticoRingette Association will be holding registration at the North Star Arena consecutive Saturdays beginning September 10th & 17th, from 9:00am–12:00pm.

North Star Minor Hockey registration will take place on Sat. Sept. 10 from 9-12 and Wed. Sept. 14 from 6-8 pm at the North Star Arena. Again this year: 1/2 price registration fee for players that are new to minor hockey (never played before).For more information please contact Shanna Doiron at or 963-2923.

Kensington Skating Clubwill be holding registration at the Community Garden Arena on Wednesday, Sept. 7th – 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. & Saturday, Sept. 10th – 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Our Learn – to – Skate programs are designed to teach fundamental skating skills to people of all ages interested in ice sports such as hockey, ringette and figure skating. The North Shore Players( a community theatre group ) are planning to produce 'A Christmas Carol' by Charles Dickens at the Watermark Theatre in North Rustico this December (9, 10, 11, 17, 18) . Auditions will be Saturday, September 24th from 10:30-5 at the Watermark Theatre, 57 Church Hill Avenue. There are a number of roles for children grade 5-9. The audition spots will be about 20 minutes long and you do not need to sign up in advance. We will ask you to read from the script or from something you have prepared. North Shore Minor Basketball Association coordinates a basketball program for youth in Grades 1-6. The goal of the program is to develop fundamental skills and a love of the game. Our sessions will focus on learning basketball skills and providing physical activity in a fun, team-oriented atmosphere. Registration is set to take place: Saturday, September 10th, 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 North Star Arena, RusticoMonday, October 3nd,7:00- 9:00 pm at Gulf Shore Consolidated School, Rustico.
