P.R. EPOXY SCREED SYSTEM - FINE

TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

USES

P.R. Epoxy Screed System provides a “resin rich” seamless flooring system which has been developed to meet the growing demand for a non-porous, dust free, non-slip and easily cleaned floor topping.

DESCRIPTION

P.R. Epoxy Screed System is based on a low odour, solvent free epoxy resin, curing agent and graded aggregates specially selected to give extremely hard- wearing properties.

P.R. Epoxy Screed System is supplied as a three-pack system, each component preweighed and ready for use on site.

ADVANTAGES

1.  Extremely hardwearing with excellent resistance to abrasion and impact.

2.  Good chemical resistance.

3.  Based on low odour and non-taint properties. Can be laid in food processing areas.

4.  Gives non-slip surface.

5.  Available in a range of colours to give good decorative effect.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

P.R. Epoxy Screed System is resistant to a very wide range of chemicals but we recommend that any specific chemical resistance properties should be cleared with our Technical Department before use.

SURFACE PREPARATION

To achieve the best performance of any of our flooring systems we cannot over-emphasize the importance of adequate surface preparation, insufficient attention to this step in the application may cause a premature failure in an otherwise sound floor.

New concrete should be at least 21 – 28 days old or the moisture content less than 5%.

The substrate should be clean, free from laitance, oil, grease or other agents, which may impair adhesion.

Techniques should include one or more of the following, depending on how contaminated the substrate is – acid etching, light mechanical scabbling, blasting, grinding or degreasing.

PRIMING

All floors must be properly sealed with P.R. Solvent Primer prior to the application of P.R. Epoxy Screed System. Our P.R. Solvent Free Primer sealer is supplied in pre-weighed packs to ensure that curing agent component is added to the resin base and mixed thoroughly. P.R. Solvent Free Primer is applied to the prepared substrate by roller or brush ensuring a continuous film over the entire floor.

Depending on the substrate porosity a second coat may be required. P.R. Solvent Free Primer must be wet when applying the P.R. Epoxy Screed System.

MIXING

P.R. Epoxy Screed System is supplied in pre-weighed packs and should be mixed in a forced action mixer such as Daines, Mega-Mixer, Mixal etc., to obtain the best results and should be mixed as follows: -

Add the curing agent component B to the pigmented epoxy resin component A, mix thoroughly until a uniform colour is formed, transfer the mixed system to a mixing vessel and slowly add the graded filler component C as supplied and continue mixing for 3 – 5 minutes until homogeneous.

APPLICATION

P.R. Epoxy Screed System is laid at 5mm thickness in one application and whilst the Primer is still wet. Only prime an area which can be treated with P.R. Epoxy Screed System before the Primer cures. Primed areas, which have been allowed to cure for any reason, should be reprimed with P.R. Solvent Free Primer.

The mixed P.R. Epoxy Screed System should be raked to the required thickness (5mm) and tamped with a wooden float to give full compaction. To ensure a tightly trowelled surface, finish off the process using a steel trowel. This is essential to provide a good “packing” for ease of cleaning.

JOINTS

Expansion joints in the existing substrate should be maintained through the P.R. Epoxy Screed System.

For suitable joint sealants please contact P.R. Epoxy Systems Ltd.

COVERAGE & PACKAGING

P.R. Epoxy Screed System is a 3-pack system – a 23.0kg unit will give coverage of approx. 2.2m² at 5mm thickness.

P.R. Solvent Free Primer is a 2-pack system – a 4.50kg unit will give coverage of 20 - 25m².

CLEANING

P.R. Tool Cleaning Solvent should be used for cleaning tools – do not use on hands.

HEALTH & SAFETY

It is recommended that barrier creams, gloves and protective clothing be used when working with P.R. Epoxy Screed System, P.R. Solvent Free Primer and P.R. Tool Cleaning Solvent.

If eyes are affected wash with copious amounts of cold water and seek medical advice. For hands – wash with soap and water.
